Nope, ffxiv on ps4 does not require a playstation plus subscription.
I hope that MS will allow users to be silver and play games with a subscription. However, I don't think the gold restriction is all that bad as most XB users are gold, and the ones who aren't don't need to be as long as someone is gold on the XB.
Case in point, I'm a gold subscriber, but my wife and kids aren't, they get all the benifits of gold because I'm gold, without having to be subbed.
While there are those out there who are silver, I do understand and don't want to underscore the stress of adding another sub fee into their lives, but I don't think it's as big of an issue as it was last generation.
Still, I do hope it doesn't prevent us from getting XIV on XB1.

Petition for Microsoft to allow XIV with cross system play:

They also don't want to link up to Sony's network, which would be required for cross platform and wanted their own exclusive servers. This was the main reason the Xbone release was canceled long ago. I will remind the PS4 requires a subscription for online but doesn't impose this on XIV
Did you read the article? They just announced cross platform play with PS4 and PC games today. So that means if you buy the Xbox version of whatever new Call of Duty game you can from here on out play with people on PS4/3 and PC.They also don't want to link up to Sony's network, which would be required for cross platform and wanted their own exclusive servers. This was the main reason the Xbone release was canceled long ago. I will remind the PS4 requires a subscription for online but doesn't impose this on XIV
Ps4 doesn't require a subscription for online technically. You don't need PS+ for netflix, YouTube, Internet browsing, stuff like that. You can get online on a ps4 without payingThey also don't want to link up to Sony's network, which would be required for cross platform and wanted their own exclusive servers. This was the main reason the Xbone release was canceled long ago. I will remind the PS4 requires a subscription for online but doesn't impose this on XIV
You do need a ps+ sub for online multi-player games like CoD or battlefield or ESO or anything like that, UNLESS the game itself requires a subscription (xiv)
I don't think Yoshi has any say in this. If SE's higher ups want XIV on Xbox because of money, it'll be on there whether Yoshi wants it to or not.The main deal breaker for Yoshi is that Microsoft wants to require a Gold subscription on top of the subscription FFXIV requires. Unless that's changed, because they are probably still trying to negotiate because they want to bring the game to as many platforms as possible. They've already talked about bringing the game to the next Nintendo console.
Thats kind of a good news for the future of FF14 if that happens, but in another hand i sense a pointless console fanboys war will begin, if it does indeed happen.
Its the same with every games. You know how stupid people can be some times.
Well honestly in this case its a "don't ask, don't tell". I always hear people knock those who play on PS4 but honestly I've seen tons of good console players who out perform PC. However I guess its inevitable that people will try to fight over something silly like what platform is played on. I mean if it passes it can only help this game, more options for players and allows those who are not fortunate enough to have a PC and Xbox the option to join in as well.
So Phil Spencer just tweeted something out, I'd guess that MS and SE are in talks already.

Well I was talking about the orginal reason there wasn't a XB1 version at launch.
