I've listened to this numerous times every day since the Ifrit battle trailer was released. So badass, especially from 1:28 on. I can't wait for this fight, the music sets the mood so perfectly. Haters gonna hate of course, but Nobuo is and will always be among the greatest, if not THE greatest video game composers in history. Not that it needs clarification, but I could go on for hours reminiscing about all of the amazing music FF has to offer, with each game having its own unique style. I'm so glad I was born into the era of composers like Uematsu, Meguro and Yamaoka. To you especially Uematsu-san, THANK YOU!

Nobuo was one of the first composers/artists to wake my interest in music. For many years now, I have been really passionate about music. I discovered a lot of great music over the course of the years, but Nobuos music still means a lot to me. His melodies are some of the best I ever heard.

He probably will never see/hear about this thread seeing as he don't work for SE anymore, but just in case I want to say a big Thank You. The man has influenced me greatly.

Masashi Hamazau is better because he uses actual instruments and not Midi samples or overused guitar rifts...

*You guys act like Nobuo is god's gift to music..*

Better to be a master of your craft then to be mediocre at many things

    Uematsu and FF for life.

Can listen to the two albums free (see below). I went to Distant Worlds in Chicago last June. Uematsu was there and performed the opening bit to FFIII on keyboard-thingy with Arnie Roth on violin. Was gud.

I thank him for his work with The Black Mages on top of everything else he's done.

Definitely digging this thread. Some of my favorites consist of:

    Giant's Dungeon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW3An...eature=related

    The Phantom Forest - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq8TV1PqZvw

    Mount Ordeals - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hATVIUphlQ

Final Fantasy IV dungeon theme - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw5BW8_4PJ8

    Fate in Haze - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMNf5-Y25pQ

    Awakened Forest - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXphJ9ptZjc

    Devil's Lab - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMK-y8w6YhA

Also from Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon:

    Ipsilon Mountains - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwv3tRKu3bM

    Eastern Ruins - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVnly-OASsI

    Cavern - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fjv6LxB7A0

FFXIV has some really stand out tracks so far, especially the new themes introduced with the Grand Companies, the official dungeon boss theme (awesome), and the first dungeon theme itself.

I mean just listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBf9H...eature=related so glad that they decided to use that as the standard boss battle music. And looking at what another player thought might be Ishgard's theme, we might be getting music similar to Cyan from FFVI.

Thank you for Memory Of Lightwaves, a tune that helps me quieten the noise inside my head every day.
Uematsu didn't work on X-2. It was Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi.
But this music is indeed beautiful.

Ah that would answer why X-2 sounds so different from other FFs in terms of music.

Still, I've been listening to Lightwaves for a few hours now and I'm feeling quite mellow...
