Lotting is completely unrelated. Changing the glam system to not check for class requirement would be much easier than perusing every item and changing its properties.Instead to change it that you can use glamour of gear the class can't wear, why not just asking to change all gears into "all classes" gears or just bring back the favored class on gear from 1.0?
i'm sure it is easier to change the requirements on gear instead of changing the glamour system.
Also, if I can use tank gear as a glamour for my healer then it is also my right to roll need on tank gear as a healer.

After reading this thread a bit I don't agree with a lot of posters.
There is no reason why my character can't wear a robe he finds, I agree I shouldn't be able to wear such things for statistics but for appearance I agree with completely, it does nothing with immersion. I could literally care less if I see Black Mages run around in scholars gear because the fairy/lore make what a scholar is, not his gear. Same with Summoner, summoner gear looks horrid.
If you can argue against that, why can a plate wearer wear cloth, yet I cannot wear plate? That to me makes no sense, I would like to combine a set of gear to make a sort of "Plate and Cloth" mix for my character and make a unique appearance.
Immersion is already broken, far far more when I see a tank come in with a bikini and a snow man hat, as others explained.
Gear does not make a class, it is simply a style the class wears and is close to (except dragoon!) that I will give the exception to.
I simply wanted to wear the black mage robe and wear gauntlets and boots of my class because it looked like it might make a good mix. As well as other robes as well.
Of course, you can restrict it so you can just wear the "artifact" version of the robe and not the dyable one, but its not like you got the robe for free. To have those robes you would of had to have got the class to 50.
I didn't know I could beat a need with a greed, the things I learn on the forums, right? =P
What i'm asking for isn't to nessessarily wear black mage gear though, but let me wear all gear I can "Cross-Class" with.
So as a Scholar, I should be able to glamour and wear conjurer and thaumaturge gear.
Sure, that might give Black Mages a bit more options since they can wear archer gear which means cool masks and coats and such but I think that would be cool! I would love to wear some of those coats myself though and mix with robed gear.

I don't think there should be a single restriction on glamour whatsoever. Since you can skin your armor with bikinis and invisible clothing, then any argument can be thrown out the window. A tank wearing a robe is much more believable than a tank wearing a bikini or fighting in the buff. Just go ahead and remove the restrictions, SE.
I like the idea of being able to glamour any gear that my character can wear. It makes no sense that I can literally wear the gear (if I hold the correct weapon in my hand), but I can't glamour it to another piece of gear.
I wouldn't go as far as letting for example paladins look like black mages, but I wouldn't mind casters sharing robes. So DoW/DoM separation would be on point. But then again, a lot of robes are already available to all (from a caster point of view), it might just be the colour that isn't the same. And for example the esoterics gear should not be shared as it was designed for each class individually. To be honest, I am fine with the system as it is. /shrug
+1 to this. This is the best suggestion I've seen in the thread.I'd say, if player reaches the point where they are able to equip the piece normally, the player should have the option to glamour it to any job. For example, the player shouldn't be able to glamour lvl 50 bard equipment, to an unrelated piece, until they've reached lvl 50 bard. That seems to be a reasonable limitation.
The argument Yoshida keeps throwing out regarding classes not being able to wear gear from outside their class makes little to no sense when you consider all the gear sharing. I'm not allowed to wear Bard sets as a Ninja, but the Leviathan Lore set is fine even though it's clearly designed with Bard in mind? The same goes every other set we share with Bard of course, some work and some don't, but regardless there's plenty of sets that would work just fine and yet it's not allowed for whatever reason. I understanding restricting Job gear (AF 1 and AF 2), but everything else seems like a restriction for the sake of having a restriction.
Glamour is only an illusion, so that won't be an issue.
