I'd say, if player reaches the point where they are able to equip the piece normally, the player should have the option to glamour it to any job. For example, the player shouldn't be able to glamour lvl 50 bard equipment, to an unrelated piece, until they've reached lvl 50 bard. That seems to be a reasonable limitation, at least to me. I'm pretty sure the game can detect this difference already.

+1 to this. This is the best suggestion I've seen in the thread.

This is how it is in XI. As long as you have leveled the job and can actually equip the piece, you can glamour it onto any job. It really allows you to get creative with your look and I would totally be down for that in XIV.

As others have said, there is no good reason for them to hold so firmly only to the job-specific glamours when people are running around in all sorts of ridiculous costumes.

I'd rather have them fix the base glamour system first. Make it so glamour is saved for a job (or class) so my PLD and WAR (and DRK?) or SCH and WHM or BLM and SMN or probably BRD and MCN don't look the exact same please. Not to mention when you have that lovely crafter AF, but you basically run around in Artisan's apron/shoes/hands/pants..

Yes this too. It would be a bit more convenient if we could save glamour sets, like we can with gear.

I'm hoping the glamour system gets somewhat of an overhaul for the expansion.

My current nin glamour as of this post:

Not exactly the picture of stealth, but I'm definitely not alone in not caring.

Thing is, all I need do is glam the shoes to sailor shoes, and I can use this "silhouette" for every class and job.

There are some other pieces I do enjoy for looks especially caster gear, but they are class locked >_< despite similar gear not being locked earlier , so I'd love for future recipies to be less restrictive than they've been recently.

Then again, i'm a SCH and most SCH gear looks meh compared to BLM, Others gear choices. I just wish we could use their sets as appearance.

I don't really see a point in restricting it, its not like I can't put on a piece of armor or cloth I found, and I will always have a scholar weapon so people know i'm a scholar.
You can already do it with "all classes" gears.
No reason to do it also with class specific gears.

The person you quoted provided a reason; they find their main job's gear choices "meh" and wish to be able to glamour others. What more reason do you need? Isn't the whole POINT of the glamour system to make yourself look the way you want? Having more options tends to be a good thing.

That's the thing, s/he doesn't need one. They don't need it personally, so by that logic, no one should. Empathy need not apply.

Funny thing is, the naysayers won't be complaining once the inevitable improvements are made. I can't imagine someone saying "man, I wish the glamour system was more restrictive and convoluted. Oh, the good old days." Of course, by that logic, they probably will.

Instead to change it that you can use glamour of gear the class can't wear, why not just asking to change all gears into "all classes" gears or just bring back the favored class on gear from 1.0?
i'm sure it is easier to change the requirements on gear instead of changing the glamour system.

Also, if I can use tank gear as a glamour for my healer then it is also my right to roll need on tank gear as a healer.
