Sometimes, you just have to.
I've learned that when you keep your gear at your level, it makes running content so much easier. It don't sound like much on paper, but having Lv54 gear in a Lv57 dungeon can be felt.

To be fair, he's talking about lvl 50 gear in lvl 50 dungeons. Given that he atleast has ilvl 90 going up against, at most, ilvl 130 (and I believe all dungeons go to ilvl 110 right now for the 50 ones.) he should be fine enough. I also believe the MSQ now gives better gear at certain points even in ARR?

Only the earliest dungeons (the ones that drop 55-70 gear) are ilvl synced to 110. Everything else is 130.
90 gear isn't anything for threat control, especially with respect to tank weapons. You're talking about a 40 ilvl deficit, on top of the fact that any DPS with 130 gear has probably run the content often enough to do it while napping, and they just want their poetics so they can go back to Idyllshire.
