Just make it replace the house BMG (rather than the furnishing itself be the sound source) and save the musics to an FC or something. It's unnesescarily cumbersome to have those two "features"/restrictions on a much-demanded feature.

I definitely agree we should have the option of high quality, non-directional sound.
All I want is to change the bgm in our FC house. I don't want a novelty feature that is quieter than some of the furniture and can only be appreciated if you are standing close and facing in the right direction. I really hope they change this.
The direction sound is purposeful (for those who are like IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED), not everyone plays this game with headphones , personally I have TS going through headphones and my bgm going through speakers. And lastly they've already talked about this in the live letter before they even released the Orchestrion. They will most likely add like a speaker item that will extend the range.
All in all I'm thinking directional shouldn't technically go, they should just make an effort to fix how it sounds through headphones.
I get its a video game, but they did go for a sense of realism, I don't know about you guys , but if I play a stereo upstairs, I can't hear it as well downstairs, or in the room over. I'd like the meet the person who has a singular stereo that can fill their whole house with sound.
Would also agree with this, I would prefer if the music just played normally as if you were actually in the area the music played.
My other concern is a bit of an inconvenience which myself and my FC mates found out last night. So apparently when one person learns a song, only they learn the song and can see it listed, the whole FC will not see the song listed on the Orchestrion. In order for an individual to see any songs on the Orchestrion, they have to learn the song themselves.
So basically you have a Juke Box Hero who can change the songs at will for the whole FC, or you get the whole FC to learn all the songs individually.
I originally thought as long as some one learned a song, the whole FC would see it listed on the Orchestrion. Again more of an inconvenience, but also figured since it was an FC furnishing it would share those privileges with the whole FC not the individual
It's not that I forget, it's just that I don't care.
Yeah I only needed to try out the Orchestrion once to find out that I won't be turning it on again.
I'm sure the low quality and lack of stereo is to emulate the sound of an old jukebox but come on, literally no one wants that.
It's not an FC furnishing though. It can be put in personal houses too.
I rather like the fact that I don't have to unlock music twice.
Would like it if I could have a portable one of these so I could listen to my unlocked music anywhere.
As a housing furnishing this is non content for me![]()
Yeah, I'm hoping they just make it sound like the usual bgm does. I don't doubt that there's people out there that like the low quality sound from a more role-playing/immersion stand point, but I think the devs went a bit too far here. The orchestrion just sounds bad, and how many people really want to listen to something that sounds bad?
If there's anything I've learned, it's that my most anticipated features are butchered.
Sorry guys, this is my fault!

Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/113554 at 1:14:22...Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
