I would rather the music to play in house through the whole house like in a duty not silly mono positional...
Ah ok, didn't know this. Still I would prefer if the whole FC had access to everyone's music library, meaning they can see it on the list of songs rather then just waiting for that person to log on to change the song. Could task people with getting certain songs, and just split up the work of collecting the songs. For now my FC just sends it to one person who will be the Juke Box Hero.
It's not that I forget, it's just that I don't care.
Or you could try farming the songs as an FC? Mine has gone farming in Ultima HM, T5, T9 and a few other places so far.Ah ok, didn't know this. Seeing as how it took us maybe 15 runs of T13 to get a single copy of answers, it's not entirely feasible to individually get a song for eveyone, especially when you need two copies of some songs for one song (answers requires thunderer, white raven and answers for example). While it's nice to not have to worry about unlocking it twice, it's still a bit of the burden when only one person can change the song (and it's not because of FC restrictions either)
The quality of the audio coming from the Orchestrion is quite low from what I've noticed, like poor quality speaks. The directional audio is really jarring when using headphones, I don't even use the Orchestrion because of it. Maybe have it as a togglable option? Cater to both kinds of players.I like it to be honest, it's fun to know where the orchestrion is just by listening to it; but I'm rarely wearing headphones, so there's that (might just do that as a test). Maybe they should tune it down a bit instead of removing it? Directional audio doesn't have anything to do with low quality audio.
Which still doesn't help if one doesn't have an FC with a house. Nor does the whole "you can place them in personal houses too" ^^; But on the third hand, for those who have one, you can also use it with the 'free' orchestrion in the Inn room. But yeah, a portable one like Kaurie mentioned would be neat. Then again, this can be done through various music services outside of the game anyway ^^;
I don't either, and it still is really bad.not everyone plays this game with headphones
They will most likely add like a speaker item that will extend the range.
All in all I'm thinking directional shouldn't technically go, they should just make an effort to fix how it sounds through headphones.
I get its a video game, but they did go for a sense of realism, I don't know about you guys , but if I play a stereo upstairs, I can't hear it as well downstairs, or in the room over. I'd like the meet the person who has a singular stereo that can fill their whole house with sound.
And if we want to talk about realism, then why is the sound cone of the speaker literally a straight line instead of being a... you know... cone, when you listen to it in this and go a mere step out of that line it dampens the sound tremendously like you've left the room... speakers DON'T work to an extreme degree like that. Not that realism is a logical reason to make the thing people actually desired this item for, terrible... this is a novelty and classic case of SE dismantling a simple thing in the interest of making something novelty or shiny instead.
Also, nobody wants a speaker, it will only add to the damned item limit as well as being yet another unnecessary amount of work to do something that could just be a simple thing... in this case, an option on the Orchestrion for either proximity or full BGM. That's what it should have been to begin with, that way the "immersive folk" and the "just BGM" folk are happy.
My biggest gripe is making it a crafted object. This would be better suited as something the housing merchants sell for a reasonable price, like the chocobo stable and gardens. I keep hesitating on buying one, because while I can afford it, I'm afraid it's going to plummet in price like it's already starting to.
The songs being crafted isn't too bad, because it's not as strict to get at least some of them made, and the spirit of doing content to get faded scrolls is nice.
As for the way the music plays in a room, I'm mixed. I kind of like that it has a distinct sound of being played on a device, but I do agree that there should be more settings to adjust, as well as an option to completely fill the room as if you were in that area for those who want it.
I'd also like to see a playlist option, or something where you can play one track after another without having to change them manually.
Super disappointed it's so gated behind crafting and airship ventures. I can do all the farming I like and not get the music ever because of this. It would have been fun if I could have just collected it myself via re-challenging old or forgotten content, but no, I just have to buy everything off the market board - boring. Too boring to even bother anymore.
