200K is way too high, and here I was thinking a fee rate would be based on the materia tier:

100 for tier I, 500 for tier II, 1000 for tier III, 5000 for tier IV, 10,000 for tier V

Obviously the NPC wouldn't be able to overmeld.

That way, crafters will still be depended on and there is an advantage. much like crafters being able to repair anywhere, anytime, and can repair their stuff up to 200%, instead of 100%.

When the HW HQ leveling gear goes for 100k+, 200k for the endgame melds seems reasonable enough.

If the gear can't be overmelded what is the point of overmelding?

Your prices are way too low. That way nobody would need a crafter for the melds ever, because earning the gil would take as much time as looking for a crafter.

The NPC could be an option, but it shouldn't be more effective than the crafters.

Most crafters do it for free (And I'm one of them), and accept tips, even when they don't expect tips.

Several just admitted to doing melds for free here in this forums.

You also gotta consider that this is PER MELD. Accessories and belts have one slot.

    main gears have two slots.

If you wanna meld ALL the pieces with tier 5, you're looking at 160K

Okay Maybe you're right that is too low.

However, 200K is too damn high lol.

200K doesn't seem that high at all as you aren't going to be melding 24/7.

Right now you can sell something as simple as the elm logs for 400 gil on Ragnarok. That's about 4k a minute, 40k per 10 minutes, 200k per 50 minutes. It takes almost no time to level botanist enough to gather these. Or you could farm materials from the monsters which would be as much effective. Making gil is quite easy but players must be actively working on it, instead of wanting everything handed to them without effort.

This seems to be the core issue here, and you are right. It would be a slap in the face of crafters if they allowed raiders to be anti social after forcing the specialist system into its current state. ("hey guys, raiders can now be independent and don't need you for melds, but you are still useless without other crafters because we took away omnicrafting")

I don't think an NPC would work (as much as it would be nice), because pricing would be hard to do, either its the better choice over crafters, or its useless.
