I haven't seen a single crafter demand a tip. Not one. I know I personally have done melds for tons of people for free as have the other crafters on my FC. I'm calling BS here. Making things up to support your argument actually does the opposite.Nevermind that there's no restriction on converting gear into materia...a process which logically WOULD require a specialist.
And Slappah, most crafters I've run into expect tips for doing this kind of stuff. They don't do it for free. This is going to turn into FFXIV's version of the tele-taxi's we saw in XI.
Same. I will do melds for free if asked and I am not in the middle of something. Tips are appreciated but I don't expect them and thinks anyone that expects more than a 10k tip for hitting a button should be ashamed of themselves. I craft for myself and maybe once every 6 months sell an item on the mb. Am I filthy rich? No. But I'm at a comfortable 3mil... do I want more gil? I don't see much reason to need it. I don't raid. I don't need top end gear. I enjoy my pace and do hunts.
And I have to agree with the above assessemnt. I have gotten 3 crafters to all 60 since Heavensward came out. and I got #2 and 3 jsut doing the daily GC turn ins. Repairing youself doe not require reams of dark matter if you're extremely space conscious you can just carry all g6 materia. A stack lasts a while.I'm sorry, but 8 months after the level cap raise and the highest crafting class you have is 54 CUL means you do not craft. You might have crafted in the past, but currently you do not actually craft. Also the fact that you think repairing yourself is worse than repairing at a NPC is somewhat laughable. It takes 1 inventory space and takes roughly 2-5 seconds to repair anywhere you please. Going to a NPC requires you to take the time to actually go to the NPC which is more than a few seconds and the NPC also doesn't allow you to go above 100% durability.

Lol. I did a bunch of melding for someone today, and guy offered 250K as a tip. I turned it down and said "Holy hell, that's excessive, I'm not taking that lol."Nevermind that there's no restriction on converting gear into materia...a process which logically WOULD require a specialist.

At least you actually leveled up the crafts. I'm amazed that you haven't got them to 60 yet however. So I'll give you that.Insult? Hardly. The person ignored me completely and took a cheap shot at me. So I responded in turn.
Look at my character before you make assumptions.
I leveled all my crafts to 50 & am saving materials so I can grind them to 60.
I craft myself and I have resented melding since day one.
I also resent the repair feature. It's a PITA to do yourself, takes up valuable inventory space & takes longer than using an NPC.
I often craft to help out new players obtain gear and at reasonable prices.
I often give away HQ sets to new players.
I also meld for free
So don't you dare mistake me as someone who feels entitled or wants crafter benefits for "free".
but I need to point out an elephant in the room.
Grade 6 Dark Matter can repair ANY gears, and you only need one stack.. which is... one slot.
How the heck is THAT an inventory issue...And please don't try with "One spot is still valuable" when...
You have 4 items for the last stage of anima relic
And six items taking up slot for the first stage of anima relic
let's not even forget how there's 12 atmas to collect which could take up a LOT of space, since it takes up a lot of time.
But really, having all crafts at level 50, repairing should be a very very minor inconvenience for you, since you can repair literally where and anytime, including in battle.
My only complaint about repair is that we can't repair other people's gears like we used to in 1.0. This would've been so nice and so helpful to have, especially in raids and farming.
And by the by, it's not THAT hard to get all crafts from 50 to 60. It's harder than 2.0, but not as much. You have multiple methods to level up easily. Leves. GC Turn ins, and collectibles. All of which extremely easy to do. Especially collectibles. You can also use retainers (gathering AND DoW retainers) to farm materials to further help your crafting.

You're joking right?
Repair is one button press when you do it yourself, using an item that you can stack 99 of in one inventory space, for a more effective repair than using an npc, vs spending 5 minutes running to an npc to just have it put to a lame 100%.
If that's a PITA to you you might be playing the wrong game as there's literally a hundred more painful things I can think of.
I dislike having to change jobs multiple times to repair my own hear. When I go and click Repair All at an NPC.
(As you can tell I rarely repair my own gear at this point.)
While some may feel leveling it was easy. For me it was tedious. But I forced myself to do it. Cause I wanted everything at 50.
Now...I once my retainers and myself have gathered enough I plan to lvl them to 60. But like I said.
For ME it's tedious. Therefore it's extremely low on my "to do" list.
Don't tell me I am playing the wrong game.
I play the content I desire. I enjoy the content that I participate in.
But you have to admit this game often complicates things that do not need to be complicated.
Melding being one of them.
Glamour Grades being another.
Chocobo Racing/Breeding.
Scrips.
To name a few.
I think you might be a little behind the times. You haven't had to change classes to repair gear for quite a long time now. So long as your requisite crafting class is the proper level and you have the proper catalyst you can repair anywhere as any class. That includes being able to repair while in the middle of a duty.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Change jobs what???? What are you talking about?
You can repair on any job all the gear. The interface is exactly the same as the NPC one - use the Repair action in the actions menu - then you just click repair all and it will repair all your currently equiped gear that needs repairing - exactly the same as the NPC last I checked - but then I haven't visited that NPC in ages - I believe you can even go through all the other gear to repair it as well.
Seriously I do this mid fight during a break if I notice my gear strated to go below 100%. Self repair at 99% puts it to 199% so it lasts for a while.
Anyway crafters aren't given the skill to meld materia by simply being crafters - we earn it at level 20 by doing a quest. And advanced is a quest later on.
Do wish for repair others gear option as well.
(super serious)I don't know what to put here so I've put this here as a placeholder until I figure it out.(super serious)

How can Glamour be complicated?
Chocobo Racing is Mario Cart on rails, how much easier do they have to make it for you?!
