But... you CAN do it yourself. You simply level up the requisite craft! The difference is that you are paying a specialist who has done a lot of the hard work for you to meld the materia.

Right now crafting serves little to no purpose. There are a handful of lucrative items on the market which can only be obtained through crafting, but the vast majority of crafted items are throwaway gear which will rarely even break even at the store. The lucrative stuff usually requires astonishingly rare items, or high level crafting, which means only the elite, who have put insane hours into their art, can make them.

That the new gear comes with materia slots is literally the only reason anyone cares now. You've had this issue for years and never questioned it because you never needed to meld at endgame. Now that endgame comes with slots, the claws come out because you want to remain completely disconnected from crafting. It was this disconnect in the first place which relegated crafting to glamour purposes only, and I shall not suffer to see it return now that we finally have a role for combatants, tenuous as it may be.

I play the game for enjoyment, not to do a grind that I have zero interest in. Crafters have furnishings, dyes, glamour prisms, high end i220 gear, glamour gear, minions, etc. What did low end crafters do before this patch, sit and complain about the lack of ways to make gil? Every time a convenience feature is suggested, it's always "But crafters will lose this and that", first glamour prisms and now materia.

What did high end combatants do before this patch? Sit and complain about the lack of ways to meld vitality onto their strength rings? This is not a convenience feature, this is directly attacking crafting. Maybe we should have an auto-regen as well, so that we can run dungeons without healers. After all, it's an inconvenience to find a white mage, or a scholar. It's an inconvenience to find a tank too, so let's give everyone 2500 defense. If you think that all sounds silly, it's because it is. It's just like saying "I want the benefits of crafting, but I don't want to be crafting".

Melds are not mandatory, but they're a nice bonus. Stop trying to take our few benefits away just for the sake of your brief 'inconvenience'. If you knew what it took to make those level 220 items, you wouldn't be so critical of the price. Never mind the fact that level 230 gear is but a few tomes away now, making it obsolete before it's been made.

Umm.... welcome to an MMORPG??? Grinding is a bit of a given... lol.

We all have to suck it up and do things we don't want to. That's how it works in the real world to. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean that philosophy has to be abolished. If you want something, you have to earn it. Suck it up and craft like the rest of us did. Was it fun? Hells no; but we did it. Just because you and a few other people refuse to utilize a feature in the game is not excusable enough to do away with it. That's unfair to the rest of us that sucked it up and did do it. Special snowflake attitude much? Guess your too good to grind in a video game that was designed with grinding in mind. And boohoo if they expect a tip for their time? They didn't have to help you at all. Guess waiters and pizza delivery drivers don't deserve tips either for their time. I mean after all, you could just do it yourself and pick up your own pizza.

And honestly, most crafters do melds for free because it's hardly a burden to them anyway; so yes, I do fail to see why this whole "inconvenience" thing is even an issue, because it really isn't. It's just gamers looking for more ways to be lazy because, "It's just a game".

Well, problem is, many people charge. If I got 23k, I'm not giving you 20k just to do one meld.

Then keep asking? There are more people who do melds for free than there are that charge.

Yeah. To be honest, I would never charge 20K per meld. that's insane. However, it's not that hard to make money anyway. I suggest to keep shouting, and finding someone that is fair, and use them as your regular contact for meld services.

How I see the new abilities:
Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.
Stone III - There's less than 3 mobs left alive. - Ragns Meuhie

Honestly how hard is it to request a meld from one of your FC members.

Why dont we just make crafting utterly useless while we are at it.
