We haven't sold any, even at these outrageous prices(around 4m on my server), and we don't currently plan to sell any. We worked for them during the event and gathered enough to decorate three homes with around a dozen to spare, and even gave out some to friends who didn't get enough or any during the event.

Adding them to the Mogstation is a horrible idea, for the many reasons that others have listed. Adding them to a vendor would be a more ideal solution, but why should people who only decided to farm one, two, or even a dozen be able to get more for no effort when people who had the foresight to predict their desire for more trees and farmed as many as we did have wasted our time for nothing? This seems like a solution that only favors those who were lazy, and hurts those who worked hard for extras and those who weren't subscribed during that time.

I would completely support bringing back the tree in an event, in it's original obtainable format(or a scaled version for HW difficulty), but any other solution just seems to either be slackers wanting freebies, or open to RMT and greed. Also, can we please stop asking SE to put stuff on the cash shop? It's a bit depressing to see so many people essentially shouting out, "Please, take my money by withholding content from the game I paid for and subscribe to! I'm that desperate!" Our solutions to getting in-game items returned to us shouldn't always be them profiting further off of us, we already pay to play this game.
I agree that adding them to mogstation would not be ideal.

However, as someone who farmed 12 for my personal house, 12 for my significant other, and another few for my FC I have 0 problems having them obtainable via the Salvager or a seasonal merchant. I personally, in no way feel, that it detracts from my accomplishment of farming to have others who farmed a few less have an easier way to obtain more. To me that mindset it just selfish.

This is not limited to just Cherry Trees. This also applies to any seasonal housing item that is now unobtainable unless someone puts it on the MB (i.e. wallpapers etc.)

So, I'm reading, as someone who farmed a lot, but not enough, you want more without working for them again. But, despite our situations being almost identical, I spent more time farming for extras, and I'm the selfish for one for asking that they be added again as a quest instead of no extra effort involved?

We're obviously both speaking from our own point of view, but let me ask you, did you read my suggestion as to how I wished for an implementation? Who, exactly, would lose out if it was added as a quest? People who have some still would have to work for more, people who never got it previously would have a chance to get it, and people who didn't get enough previously could work for more. It seems quite fair, to me. But who would lose out if it was given as a calamity salvager item, for sale, as you suggest? Everyone who worked for extras would have wasted their time, everyone who wasn't there for the event would still be lacking the item, and the only people who would benefit are those who farmed some but not enough. Like you.

I don't mind you getting upset or calling me selfish since I all-but called you out in my original post. I almost replied to you in it, because part of the post was addressing you. But, while I've seen you post enough to know that trying to see things from a view other than your own isn't exactly your strong suit, I hope that it's pretty obvious that only one of the three suggestions in this topic(Mogstation, Calamity Salvager, reintroduce quest) is taking an approach that gives favoritism or benefit to no one, and puts us all on equal ground.

Though I do understand why you wouldn't like that suggestion, because as someone who also farmed a considerable number of trees, I really have no desire to go through that horrendous grind again. However, if the quest did come out again, I still would, because they're a great furnishing, highly in demand, and I have friends that would like some. Plus, I would like to see the many people who have been complaining for a while about the trees to have a chance to get them, and not just those of us who were playing and participated the last time.

Finally, before you try and backpedal, I'd like to take a moment to quote you.

The moment you said that, I disagreed with you. If you want to amend the statement to imply that you're fine with new people getting it as well, then go ahead, and I wouldn't resent such an idea. However, don't you dare have the audacity to call me selfish when you propose a plan that neglects the entire new user base or people who weren't subscribed for a couple of week period because I want to offer a fair alternative that gives us exactly what we all had before.

In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Regardless of what you think of me and my opinions, I'm not going to try to "backpedal" and, imo, as mentioned, your mindset is exceptionally selfish. Who are you to dictate what is "grinding enough" for an item just because someone didn't get as many as you. Your time is no more/less valuable than anyone else that farmed the item regardless of if they farmed 1 or 36.

If you've actually read all my other posts on this topic, as you claimed, then you'd know that I've suggested that if they did put them on the Salvager or on a seasonal merchant (for gil or w/e the current event token is), or a combination of both, to keep the ability to put them on the MB. This in turn would drive the cost of the trees down to a reasonable level for new players who aren't around for the events which clearly does not leave out any of the new player base.
