*EDIT* Also Kon.... Dell owns Alienware and both are stupidly overpriced, Dell wanted £330 for a 6950HD and you can buy them from Amazon & Dabs for £174.99
Well I thought he was being a bit of a twonk as well paying that kind of cash for a computer.

To be fair though, it's quite an impressive sight, it sounds like an airplane taking off when he switches it on, and he has a huge (it was huge at the time anyways) 28 inch monitor, and one of those 6 button mice and a gaming keyboard with the little LCD screen.

Still, he could have bought all that seperate from a decent PC store for about £800...

Ah lol, always a great sound. Mine sounds like a jet engine with the Graphic card fan at 100% and when I press the power-switch I get a nice sound from my 7 Coolermaster casefans.

I just ordered myself a 24" BenQ monitor from Amazon, right now im using my 32" LED TV which my wife isnt happy about.

My next step is a SSD, hope it increases FFXIV & bootup speed

I only use WD (Western Digital) or Samsumg, never had a single issue with them. I wont need to touch the paste anytime soon dont worry, my CPU never goes past 45c lol but FFXIV turns the damn room into a oven with the graphics card, I could lower the temps but I like my overclock and 60-65c is well within its limits, I think the 6950HD can do 100-105C before it throttles

I know what you mean, I have to have the fan on all day and night from the temperature my room hits when the T.V and computer have been on for a few hours. Think my CPU sits around the 50 degrees mark at all times, the graphics card though is around 40 degrees until I put FFXIV on, then it rockets up to around 60-70 degrees.

Still, it's better than the 80-90 degrees my Geforce 9500GT was doing, or the 120 degrees it'd shut off at when the fan wasn't working XD

I'm lucky I managed to get hold of the ASUS version of my card with the DirectCU2 cooler, keeps it running cool. A reference model would of probably burnt out by now.

I remember when I tried to run FFXIV on my laptop and the GPU chip melted... (not lying) it hit 85c or so then stopped working had to replace the motherboard...lesson learned lol.

I'm amazed my CPU keeps below 50C during FFXIV with a stock cooler yet my graphics card is at 65-70c with 2 massive fans spinning at 4200RMP on it and 2 12cm intake fans blowing 67cfm air onto it its insane how much this heats up a card.

Oddly enough my Geforce 210 only has a heat-sink, no fan at all but it keeps cool. It is an eeeeeenormous heat-sink though, and the cards pretty heavy compared to others.

I remember when the Incarna patch came out on EVE and someone appeared in the forum about 10 minutes later. turned out the huge memory leak Incarna had when it came out caused his computer to quite literally explode. He had to go build a new one, and he was trying to get CCP to pay for it, and peeps were like, "Dude, if you computer exploded, there was something VERY wrong with your computer, nothing to do with CCP or their game at all."

I also remember getting a burn on my leg after playing WoW on my friends laptop for about 12 hours straight (My parents were on holiday and I was quite drunk, so repeatedly pressing the same number keys for 12 hours whilst doing quests was about as far as my mentality could go at the time ).

    Computers do crazy stuff sometimes...

My card is 11.5" long it barely fits into my case and its longer than the motherboard, hell it rests ontop of the SATA connecters so I gotta remove it if i wanna plug in more SATA drives lol.

My laptop always used to be good and cool but I guess leaving FFXIV running for 1-hour on a bed didnt do it much good...

Worst PC thing i've heard of is some guy sprayed his Graphics card with compressed air then turned his PC on and loaded up a game.. a big fireball flew out of it and killed the enitre thing guy went crazy, if you wanna try it yourself spray some compressed air over a fire and watch it explode that stuff can be dangerous.

I want the new ATI CCC drivers to be released already, might help with performance and lower my temps lol

There was a guy I used to know who had one of those liquid nitrogen cooling units on his computer, the ones with all the pipes going around it. One of the pipes sprung a leak one day and his entire computer turned to ice.

    It was like a low-tech T-1000 XD

While I can't like what happened to the computer, the T-1000 reference caught me off guard.

I'm well versed in many video game and movie references, most of which are completely useless in real-life situations
