Crafters have no right to get their own Chocobos

On the topic of DoH/L being secondary, I think this is intended to combat things like the unengaging main story line. When equal access degrades the content down to teh sux someone has to take the back seat. Dropping the DoL/H is the smartest thing to do here.

Chocobo riding, though, doesn't become crappy because DoL/H can access them, which is why I see a difference here worth raising a discussion over.

Thank you for bringing some rationality to the conversation. Chocobos are a very fundamental part of a Final Fantasy game, and there is no reason why they couldn't implement an alternative means to obtain a chocobo for DoH/L.

All they're doing is unnecessarily excluding some of their player base by allowing only fighting classes to obtain personal chocobos. Will DoH/L having a personal chocobo negatively affect the playing experience of any fighting class in any way? No? Will it negatively affect the playing experience of non-fighting classes? Yes? Then why do it?

This I can agree with a lot. The main story isn't very involving at the moment because it's possible to do with every class, whether you can fight or not. Because of that I never really feel like I'm part of the battle that's going on between our races and the Garleans, since I never have to lift a finger during any battle sequences, NPC's do the whole thing for me. It sort of takes the fight out of a battle sequence.

By downgrading the gathering and crafting classes to a secondary role, battle classes will step into primary and the story can become more involving between the ongoing war and your character, as there will be a much stronger sense that you are indeed fighting to save your country.

Before anything FFXIV is a roleplaying game, designed for (oh god i'm gonna say it) 'immersive' and engaging plot, and the only way they can do that is to make your character take part in the storyline, rather than stand back and let the NPCs do it for you.

You can still Rent a chocobo with any class at level 10. No one is getting excluded. SE is saying: if you want a faster/unlimited Chocobo here is the compromise: Level up a Battle class to 25.

Oh, ic. What a waste of time, seems like that I level up my two classes for nothing. I'm glad that this game is still free, or I'll request a refund for it.

The company storylines are currently strictly DoW/DoM and ranking up involves getting further into the storyline. If DoL/DoH can participate in it they would either need to make the fights as lame as the main story ones or have the non-combat option which barely ever makes sense, especially when the Empire is involved.

This issue only affects a very small speck of the population and even less of them would be unwilling to level a battle class at all.

Yes, because renting a chocobo grants you the same benefits, right? The most important of which is being able to summon it anywhere, not merely in town, leaving you without a chocobo once you dismount. Do you have any idea how much more efficiently someone could gather if they did not have to slowly run to every nod? Yet, you cannot use a rental chocobo for this, now can you?

We levelled a battle class to fight, yes. Now SE is giving us GC issue battle chocobos to battle with in the future.

Nobody is disagreeing that GC issue chocobos are not the same as rentals; they are clearly better. The point that rentals exist simply make your argument that chocobos are universal content moot.

It is not about allowing DoL/H to obtain personal issue chocobos effecting battle classes. It is about SE clearly wanting players to level battle classes in order to fully experience the game.

You decided to ommit my second statement =/

SE is asking to level up a battle class to 25 if you want the luxury of calling a personal chocobo anywhere. The same way they are asking you to level up a craft up to 18 if you want to attach Materia. It is simply that, a compromise.
