For reference, I went from 60 to meeting my mentor requirements in just 3 days of work. Work I was doing anyway to start on my endgame. (8/8 M3, 3/9 folklore, 1 week of red capped)

But it seems ok. The requirement of reaching 60 is doing the brunt of the work. Going from 0-60 on all 11 took me a bit under 4 months. I know the requirement is just 1 of each, but my first piece of advice as an (almost) official mentor is: don't do just 1 of each. Do them all at once. The real focus of the mentor requirement is the 60s.

You can guide someone pretty well up to 50 and how to start heavensward with just that. The other achievements seem tacked on. It's just a "must have begun endgame," which only requires a very rough understanding (I see some pretty bad collectible rotations from people next to me while gathering scrips). Hell, I had reached the achievements before even attempting to farm aethersands.

My only gripe with the system is that it isn't account based. Not due to comms. Those aren't terribly difficult to come by. My WHM has only existed since HW dropped and he has 345 thus far. But coming from Balmung, a lot of players have alt characters for looks if not for storage etc. Even though I enjoy helping new players in low level roulette etc and I've played since launch I'll probably never achieve mentor because I have my dps, healing, and tank classes on different characters. That also means my dungeons runs are divided. So though I easily have over 1000 runs, its not all on one person. Its a bit of a rub for me. Yes I know the game isn't 'alt friendly' but its happy to charge people more to have alts so that doesn't fly as an excuse with me. Otherwise I don't find the requirements to be terribly awful. *shrug* I suppose for those of us with alts we'll just have to start a linkshell or something to by pass the mentor thing if we'd like to be more involved. Which...frankly I've started considering. Its a far better option than leveling a tank and dps again when I already have a lvl 60 ninja and a near 60 warrior.

I do agree that the requirements seem a bit odd if you're going for a 'helping players get on their feet' sort or role. 1000 dungeons is a ton. I mean...you could run your daily a day for two years and not hit that. Using my 8 month old WHM as an example, he's around 300 runs even with leveling 1-60 and doing quite a bit more than just a dungeon a day but I don't feel like farming an extra 700 runs would suddenly make me a better mentor. Then again I'm not sure what metrics to use that would fit the feel but not be something you can exploit. Anything game time involved is out because...heck bots can manage that better than those of us with day jobs. XD

If you haven't hit 1000 runs in the span of two years, then you must not be playing dungeons or trials all that much.

Well I mean, I have. In my situation it doesn't count because I have 400 or so on a ninja alt, another 4-500 or so on a tank alt, 300 on my healer main, 150 or so on a bard I'm leveling, so on and so forth. I'm not saying it isn't doable even if you didn't do relics. But it doesn't really prove anything in my opinion. I feel like if they wanted to assure you understood each role they should have at least made it like...200 on a tank role, 200 on a healer, 200 on a dps or something of that nature so they know you actually understand the job and didn't just fate farm a bunch of side classes to 60.

If you are a good mentor, you don't need a mentor badge to mentoring. Or you just want to brag to people that you are good at your job without playing for so long???

The requirements are measurable measures, there is no way for SE to measure how good you are at your job, clearing endgame stuff is no good measure either.

Just think that the "mentor" status is something like sayin "this is a relative active player so is possible he/she knows some useful stuff"

If you want to be an active mentor, open learing parties for raids/trials or just be ince and give advice to people in dungeons when they ae nice enough to learn

True sempais don't seek to be sempais just to be ones, your padawans will appreciate if you are a nice person.

I bet some so called "Mentors" will be awfull people. Chill out and just be nice.

Tbh, if you have done 1000 dungeons and don't have at least 500 comms, it probably means you are a terrible player, an a-hole, or both. Whichever it is, it's a good sign you shouldn't be a mentor.

If I ever see someone doing something horrbily wrong on their job, I never mind giving advice to make them better in a dungeon. I mean...the quicker they learn now the sooner we will be out of the dungeon right???

And btw...it's SENPAI...not SEMPAI...sorry to be the spelling nazi of the thread. >.>
