What "materia" u said? My hand is cold after not getting my own chocobo.
Amazing that I even have to explain this.
No, you ride to your farthest away camp, and then run back from there. It's been working for now, it'll keep on working.
I craft quite a bit, I fully understand the frustration regarding having to go to different camps. But, if you want to not have to deal with that, just level up some DoW class a bit to get your pass.
As a guy who focuses on battle classes mostly, I have to rank up in several classes that I don't care about to be able to have the abilities that I need to be at the top of my game. It's no different for crafters now; if you want it, pay for it.
Your highest craft is rank 25 unless you have another character you're playing for crafting, once you hit 35 you got R40 crafting spots as well now try run every spot from one side of the map to the other
but like you said can level up DoW class to 25 doesn't take much but personally looking from true Crafter/Gatherer point of view (those that strictly want to play ONLY crafter/gatherer...) it's not fair for them. I know few peeps out there that have this strict rule, so if you say that's their own choice they decided to do that, that's their own fault not being able to get My Chocobo can't say much but for me I would of made it so Gatherer/Crafter don't feel left out from Grand Company. At least be able to get their own Chocobo since Chocobo's are main part of Final Fantasy.

How many times we need to say, whatever rank we have in battle class is not the point. We, crafters & gatherers, are fighting for our own right. We need game contents for crafters and gatherers. Battle classes have GC and we want to be part of it. We want to make things for fighters, we want to contribute. The point current crafters are making is moot.
98% of you have a Battle/Magic class over 25.
Per Yoshida's statement, Crafters and gatherers will be moved to a secondary/support role, in terms of content. Seeing this will be the case in the future for the relaunch, the game will not be marketed as a game where you can simply be a Crafter/gatherer and call it a day, like it was at launch, so new players will not be coming on board with that way of thinking.
They might adjust the requirements to get a Chocobo in the future, sure. But the days where you can only be a crafting/gathering class are over if you want to experience FFXIV as a whole, thankfully I might add.
All being said, it is not unfair to ask to have a war/magic class up to 25 to unlock features.
This clearly is not an option for the Dev Team, at least for now. And Yoshida has gone on official record to state Crafters and Gatherers are secondary roles. Content for Crafter/Gatherers is being developed with what you are now, a secondary/support role. What this means is the main attraction point for players will be their battle class. Everyone wins. How many times we need to say, whatever rank we have in battle class is not the point. We, crafters & gatherers, are fighting for our own right. We need game contents for crafters and gatherers. Battle classes have GC and we want to be part of it. We want to make things for fighters, we want to contribute.
Its proven beyond doubt content developed around Battle/crafter/gatherer at the same time does not work. So they are developing it separate, for now (This can change for all I care) getting a chocobo requires you to have a battle class.
Edit: that you can not get your chocobo as a crafter/gatherer does not make your Role less important or relevant, which is to craft and gather...
Edit#2: I am a player that plans to level LTW and MIN to max, I don't see a problem with the requirements, I don't see myself being less important because I can do very cool things with those classes (Materia attachment and Catalyst gathering for example).
I get this odd feeling there's going to be crafters and gatherers marching in circles in Ul'dah chanting:
"What do we want?"
"Chocobos!"
"When do we want them?"
"Next patch!"
lol then bunch of cops (GM) come out and round them up and beat the crap out of them![]()
scary j/k ww
I believe it is unfair to require a battle class for *this* feature.
Being moved to a secondary or support role doesn't mean forceful exclusion. I don't think that the main quest line need involve gatherers and crafters. The quests I have done for the main story were pretty disappointing. Parley is not all that cool. I'm with y'all that far, but chocobos aren't combat content in and of themselves. Allowing crafting classes to pick up a bird of their own doesn't limit combat types or force dull gameplay mechanics onto anyone.
"Gain 25 ranks in a class you don't care to use -> Get a chocobo -> Use Non-combat class for rest of game" doesn't differ much in practical effect from "Gain 25 ranks in crafting class -> Get chocobo", except in that the latter spares a player from needless grinding that they're unhappy with.
If *I* had to choose between making 98% of the population happy by giving them chocobos, or make 100% happy by doing the same, I don't see what excuse I'd have to be stingy.
いつか人は一人になって思い出の中に生きていくだけ。
You can say Yoshida said this all you want. He can say it a thousand more times. The Crafter/Gather community will not accept it. It is unacceptable for our voice to be ignore and these forums will rage on with the voices of the at least half of this community to Enjoy Crafting and Gathering and want it to be an integral part of the game. This game will never be a success just by catering to the Battle content. Combat classes will never get this game beyond par. It is the Crafting and Gathering that set it apart from the rest of the industry and only when we are given equal consideration will this game ever begin to shine above all the others.
