    Tank Gear's Value for the Future.

    Since Vitality AND Strength effect damage, doesn't that mean Jewelry for tanks must have both strength and vitality on it to make up for it?

    Eventually we are going to go higher and higher in stats, so that means that vitality will not add up the same damage as strength will.

    A simple fix to this, is to make tank jewelry also have strength on it.

    Tank Jewelry:
    XX Value Vitality (Say, 50.)
    X Value Strength (Say, 25. However only tanks receive this bonus.)

    This will make it closer to the same value for damage other classes receive. Even though it might be balanced now, in expansions later you will see Tank damage drop more and more as the stats become less.

    Say, lets say it is 5.0x

    DPS Gear:
    XXXX Value Strength, lets say 200.

    Tank Gear:
    XXXX Value Vitality, lets say 200.

    This means, that DPS will get a 200+ increase to their damage stat.

    However, Tanks will only get 50-60% of that value. Which is way less when you add all the gear up. They need to be compensated for that so its 1 for 1 like the rest of the classes since DPS classes also do not have a 20% damage reducing thing and have much higher potency in weapons.


    OR


    "Damage Reduced" needs to be removed from tanking stances.



    Another issue is, DPS classes may need a health boost as well for the future. If Vitality is now the main tank stat AOEs and missing mechanics will not hurt them nearly as much as they do now, unless they are doing it to hit max % health, which is another huge issue.

    Are you sure that is how the damage is being calculated? STR isn't the damage modifier for all melee classes (NIN use DEX and stack only DEX, not DEX + STR). I think they are changing the formula for tanks to use VIT as the damage modifier so STR will not increase damage. I could be wrong though as I haven't read anything on the changes outside of the swap to VIT.

    To clarify, I don't think VIT is boosting damage for all jobs/classes. Essentially, VIT will only act as a modifier for tanks and STR will not act as a modifier for tanks.

    Both strength and vitality will increase damage. So to make that value fair in the future tank jewelry would have to have both to be a 1 for 1 value in damage. THAT would be IMBALANCED now of course. However, in the future it would need to be done.

    It would mean though every expansion tank's damage will go down automatically by 15-20%.

    During the live letter they said that VIT would scale better than STR.

    So if you are still too attached to your STR stats then please go ahead and gimp yourself.

    That means as stats go up each patch, tank damage slowly goes down.

    By this point I just fetch my popcorn for his posts and read the replies.

    Tank strength will scale off VIT, making full fending tanks the only viable option from 3.2 onward. Anyone adding str in addition to, or mixed with, fending will be less effective. It's not like the str + vit penta meld situation.

    Full fending all day baby. Already bought the hymn to reset on the 23rd.

    Vitality only gets 50-60% the value of strength. Which means

    Having 500 vitality is like having 250 strength like we do now.

    Yes, it gives HP yes. However that also leads to its own balancing problems.


    It will mean, every time they increase the gear's stats tanks value in damage will go DOWN.
