3.2 PvP: Feast Game Mode Discussion Thread.

So hyped. I really didn't think I would get so addicted to PvP in this game.

I hope it's for all people in Diamond tier and not just the top player or something. But no matter what rank you need I'm gonna go all out to get it.

Wonder if I will continue being a healer (I main healer pvp, tank in pve) or switch back to tanking for pvp.
The vit = damage has me worried about how unstoppable tanks will be in pvp. We'll have to see.

Yay, they finally added Assists into the damn game! Boo, they sure as hell wont be retroactively implementing that to Wolves' Den/Secure/Slaughter/Seize...

Doubt we'll be seeing Lv60 Wolves' Den/Secure/Slaughter either... I mean, I don't care about Slaughter, they could honestly remove it at this point, the Feast seems like what Slaughter should have been anyway. Still, it would be nice if they'd just address the issues with old PvP, rather than adding new modes constantly and killing the old ones... Sort out the queue problems and there is no real reason we cannot have Wolve's Den/Secure/Slaughter/Seize/Feast all relevant and all contributing to your rank. Base Ranks on your own personal K/D/A rating across all modes, and give each mode its own Rating page.

Oh, one tiny request; The Mentor system is going to be slapping a crown icon next to Mentors names or something? Yeah... Can we slap the Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum/Diamond icon next to PvPers names?

This. Feast is looking to quite honestly be what Slaughter SHOULD have been. Made for a decent amount of people but not too much, and designed in a way so that you can't easily cheese your way to victory by cometeoring people into the ground.

I'm all for reviving Secure (slaughter can stay dead, I don't really care), and keeping it so that we have plenty of PvP options, or at least one Frontline mode that cycles between the three to keep them active...but SE seems intent on just leaving old content dead, so we'll see.

Yup. That's the one. I saw it in the stream highlight but I didn't get the image for everyone. Thank you very much for posting it so everyone can see.

I actually like this outfit. Especially as a Tank outfit. Not really digging the crown, but the coat is pretty sharp. It's gotta nice, rag-tag king of the kill look to it. I can picture this on my Pld.

That said, and as you pointed out, they weren't exactly clear on how the rewards are dished out. They did not specify if all Diamond ranked players get it, or just the top few. They also did not specify how the item is given out. It could be mailed, or it could be retrieved from an NPC (like our achievements), or it could possibly be handed out by a rank locked vendor. It was not specified at the moment.

This is an interesting consideration. I too, am a little weary of how this will work out, but I'm concerned because I main Tank in PvP lol. Something tells me that it won't make a huge difference though. SE's decision to modify the dmg formula for Tanks was to balance the utility of melded sets with dropped Fending sets from Savage level content. So, I have a feeling that the actual stat changes seen by Tanks in Vit vs Str sets won't be too noticeable. It's hard to say until we know exactly how the stats will scale...

This does bring up another thought for me though. Word on the street is that Pld's will be getting some "large adjustments" to their kit. No one really knows what this means yet, but Pld's were a force to be reckoned with in WD (stun locking, cover, etc.). FEAST will be level 60, so that also opens up Clemency and Divine Veil. I'm curious how these new "adjustments" will make Pld play in the new content.

Totally agree. I'm very happy that they added "assists," and I can definitely see this solving a lot of problems with the unbalanced achievements for PvP if SE follows through with it. If they add rewards based on achievements it might be a good way to get healers some recognition and encourage people to Q as heals. It would also be cool to have a stats page (though I'm sure SE will cite memory and resources as a reason for not doing this) and have assists contribute in some way to matches, points, or rank. Right now it seems pretty bare bones, but the fact that SE is suggesting we try to rack up a lot of assists implies that they might have a bigger plan for them. I want to see where they will go with this.

And I definitely approve of having a player indicator of PvP rank. That sounds pretty snazzy.

I now it's foolish, but I am still holding a candle for the idea that SE might up the ilvl of Secure and Slaughter in the future and include them in the FL roulette. It's wishful thinking, but I'm hoping that they're putting it off while they focus on FEAST's rollout, and that they will do these things when FEAST has successfully been introduced into the community ... A man can hope.

So... Your tanking in both PvP and PvE then xD?

My prediction: War will still continue being OP while summoners will get less popular due to smaller teams (less noob killing).

I think I've been asking for that since 2.1... Just like we have a page that details our victory rate in Wolves' Den/Frontlines, we should have a page that takes the results we get at the end of a match and keeps track of them. I don't need to go back and look at the results I had for a match 10 months ago (although that would be awesome as well), but I'd love to have a page which has my total Kills, Deaths, Assists, HP Healed, Damage Taken, Occupations, and so on.

I care about that kind of information far more than the results of something like Frontlines (and to a lesser degree, Wolves' Den). Those results just tell me how the team is doing, not how I'm doing.

Perhaps the only problem with that is that there is no way it will be able to account for matches from before its implementation, but with Seasons getting added, I think now is the perfect time to just start a new slate and start recording that stuff.

The special reward for diamond rank is equipment with a completely new design, and diamond ranked players can earn the entire set. There will also be trophy furnishings.

I totally agree with you here, and I've been pining for this for a while now. The problem, though, is that SE has traditionally been unwilling to include such things. Last time this was brought up, the cited that system storage was not sufficient to do it. The same issue was brought up recently with our request to store action points separately. Their answer was that it would "require too many resources" to do. So, as much as I would like to see it and this is the ideal time, I can already foresee SE's answer.

I was actually impressed by a lot of things they are adding (assists, for example) which show that they have been at least somewhat listening to the PvP community. Seasons, Rankings, Rewards, Assists (and the possibility of new achievements), furnishings, and new equipment are all very good news to me. My biggest concern now is that it will be well received so that SE is given all the more reasons to continue adding things to PvP. That, and Q times.
