This probably removes all choice from gear and you will no longer change accessories to adapt to the situation. It's what I expect from the XIV battle team but I'm still disappointed.

Having to change gear at all was needlessly complicated. Compared to the other roles, why were Tanks the only ones stuck having to mix and match between upgrades and outdated melded accessories in order to excel? You have to admit, that was dumb, right?
I can understand the disappointment, but bear in mind we're the only job that ever had any choice in the first place. You didn't see Dragoons swapping between Crit and SkS sets based on encounters, or Monks having Vit for one fight or Str for another. Every other class got away with one gear set for ALL content. They don't seem to like choice or personal preference in classes in FF.
We'll still get to tailor our damage out/in via choice of how often we stance swap into DPS at least. And let's face it, our choice of gear wasnt really THAT much of a choice - it was strength all the way unless healers whined. At least with this change we'll see our health pools rising steadily as we get better gear.
This isn't really true, historically. in Savage SCoB and early FCoB, it was pretty common to see DPS/Healers foregoing 20 iLevels of their main stat in their accessories, and using i90 VIT+Main melds in place of the i110 Soldiery/High Allagan that offered the most DPS/strongest healing.Just as tanks in Gordias tended to favour i150 melded at the beginning of the raid tier and gradually transition to full STR, people would take the VIT on melded accessories for survivability and only gradually switch to actual DEX/INT/STR/MND gear as their left-side gave them an HP buffer. Even after being geared up, it wasn't at all uncommon to see healers (mainly Scholars, but a few White Mages) wearing several melded pieces to bring them to the accuracy cap.I can understand the disappointment, but bear in mind we're the only job that ever had any choice in the first place. The only reason that gearing choices never really emerged in 3.0/3.1 is that the exceptionally high DPS checks in Gordias forced DPS and healers to really maximize offense for the first several months, and the exceptionally low iLevel on crafted accessories meant that the tradeoff of losing your main stat to gain extra VIT was too great a loss for too little gain, except on tanks.
You're right that they don't seem to like giving people choices, but the choices were there, and they were viable until 3.0, for all roles. I felt that the game was poorer for not really having those viable choices on DPS/Healers in Heavensward, and I think it will probably be poorer for doing away with this last little bastion of customizability. But I guess there's not much to be done about it at this point.
All the more reason I was hoping they'd make decent choices out of tank's VIT and STR options. So that, maybe, someday, we could actually get these choices on other jobs as well. You didn't see Dragoons swapping between Crit and SkS sets based on encounters, or Monks having Vit for one fight or Str for another. For instance, just imagine if glamors could attach appearance and/or stat balance (with secondary stat ilvls perhaps averaged between the attached and attaching pieces)? (And, of course, that glamors, once something is used on both the item being projected and the items being projected onto, could be swapped at will.) Poof, low-Accuracy, high-SkillSpeed Monk set, dressed in crimson.
Very happy to hear this, feeling pressured to use Str accessories while tanking never felt right to me.
I have to say I agree with you I feel like having to put on vit accessories as a punishment I not once as a War and Drk ever had a problem using str accessories. This is a MMO I thought being in an MMO is that I can play as a I want and be different.I can understand the disappointment, but bear in mind we're the only job that ever had any choice in the first place.
