A large number of people complaining that they had to spend a lot of money are going off MB prices. The MB has taxes.

Taxes are removed if you buy an item from its home nation (IE: If the retainer is gridania, go to gridania and you won't have a tax).

So still, this isn't a gil sink in the slightest. As I keep telling people you can do the whole step completely for free, it just requires to not be lazy, gather mats, and talk to people. (Though I'm aware some crafters will charge you for their time it's still never that much..)

Or you can just shout, have a look in this very forum under the community section and find crafters who are willing to craft it for you for free. Just saying...

Reading 11 pages of complaints (more or less) about the cost of those really bothers me.

This is unfortunately the only relic craft I can provide so far. I'm not specialist in any of the other requiered recipes (rerolling atm). Still, I go all 16 mats for a total of 0 gils. How ? I traded. Made some exchanges with other crafters who are in the same situation as I am. It didn't take me 2 hours. No. It took me many days of shouting, PF'ing to find the good people.

Could I have juste just afforded them from the MB ? sure. I can easily spend 10m on those. I just didn't want to. Making crafts accessible to any Joe or Jane has always been what's pushing me forward into crafting. And I'm not the only one.

Now a bit more of memories. In august (or September?), back when all the rosters were falling apart due to A3S, I offered something similar. I offered to craft, as a freelancer, every meal or potion needed for a roster ALL FOR FREE. How many answers did I get ? ONLY ONE.
Guess what ? The only roster I was contacted by ended up server 1st on A4S clear after 2 months of free-providing from me and hard-training from them.
Now make a count, they were raiding 4 times a week during those 2 months, with 8 players, all in need of at least 5 meals per raid. In other words, that makes 40 meals per raid x 4 (per week) x 8 weeks : 1080 meals for free (mats included)

On one of the most populated server : Moogle.

So pleaaaaase, before writing nonsense : check around !

Implying anyone who bothers gathering the 80 unidentified items in the first place is "lazy" is, in my opinion, a little off. It's a pretty big grind in it's own right, if you were "lazy", you'd just stick to your eso weapon and wait 'til something better comes around.

the step is still for free if you gather the mats and know 1 or 2 crafter, no forced gil sink involved

The seller (of the items and/or mats for the items) is still taxed on the profits

I'll just say this. I didn't JUST become an omnicrafter to get rich in the game. For me, that's just selfish. I became an omnicrafter to help people. So if you see me on Balmung, ask me to craft these for you. I MAY or MAY NOT be busy, but I'll try to make time to help as many people as possible.

There is no such thing as free, by gathering the mats yourself and using them. It's free in a sense but you have taken a loss from not selling them. In this way... You may as well just be crafting a rare weapon instead of questing for it.

Can try to help on Cerby if anyone needs a hand... only my ALC 60 and geared and will try the Mirrors this weekend first time and my FC mate can make Kings Cakes and Arrows. Please note we probs need HQ mats as we aren't geared beyond i150 gear and only craft in spare time (between raids; dailies; workshop) but feel free to ask us.

It get removed for the buyer, but there is still a 2% tax minimum (most time 5%) for the seller.
