My only problem with relics is that: They were created for the people who don't mind spending alot of time to obtain because for whatever reason, they have trouble raiding due to time/work/school/whatever. They were also apparently created for people who only have alot of money to spend. I could spend the money, but I can't bring myself to justify it.
It's like trial of the magians on ffxi only you need a ton of gil to complete as well. Makes no sense. Why not just a rough grind and call it at that?
I would give relic quests up in a heartbeat for a "trial of the magians" variant in FFXIV but the problem here is that gear doesn't have enough diversity to have something similar so were stuck with whatever relic quest they give us.
Seems like alot of people are in support of this because of "communication" and whatnot. I believe everyone is willing to communicate to find crafters to make them but the problem is still that even the mats cost alot of gil. Arguably your dropping all this gil for a weapon that will only be briefly top tier till a new release and there are other things people might be wanting to save their gil for but would still like to complete relic.
I don't consider overcoming the games economy a challenge for completing relic either (in before the players buy gil and RMT wins again!)... If they want these things to be worth obtaining in the long run, they need to actually withstand a long run in the game as well.
NERF PLS.
