If you're a healer who doesn't wanna DPS (or really any player in any role who doesn't feel like they wanna use their whole toolkit in situations where it would be appropriate because "not my job"), then don't. Nobody can make you. You may get some grief from people who think it's dumb that you spend 75% of your time in an instance doing literally nothing. Some people might kick you for it. Some people may just complain. Who cares what they think, right? Play how you want and move along.

The problem comes when you complain that people are upset with your playstyle. Fact: that playstyle is not efficient. Stop trying to tell people that they should just accept that. If you're not contributing as much as you can on purpose, they have every right to complain/kick you: you're essentially harassing them. (Personal opinion: that's an overreaction when the problem could just be ignored with some patience, but the fact remains)

Also, nowhere in this game does it say "a healer's job is to only (x)". Never happens. They categorize the jobs based on their toolkits to make sure that a random party has access to all different skill types in order to maximize their chance of clearing the instance. That is literally ALL your role is. It doesn't come with a job description or any sort of limitation. You are imposing that on yourself. That is why people get frustrated with you. You are only contributing 70% of what you could be to the group because of artificial, self-imposed restraints.

As long as this game is set up where healers can do more DPS in their off-time than they have support spells in their toolkit to increase the actual DPS's output (or changed to where there is no healer downtime), there will be NO CHANGE to the meta. Sorry. Can we be done now?
