Lets switch Focus for a second and imagine a WAR spamming Butchers Block without the combo... he's holding hate but doing not much DPS... is it acceptable because he's holding hate? This is basically the same thing as saying it is acceptable for a healer to just toss the occasionally heal while sitting with a full MP pool because basically they are healing right? So I say every time a healer cures only how about tanks just do the hate move without combo since it is the same in theory?

Which is entirely different from "i dont want to do anything except heal" in the context of healers not wanting to dps. The problem behind their belief is that she's drawing from her life to heal, and would eventually die from doing so, rather than drawing it from the elements to heal. People are taking her words and taking it out of context from the actual class quest story.

Maybe you missed this on page 7. This is just one of the times she mentions it. I dunno where I was really going with the second part of that post, I was just replying to the refusal part.

To be honest, they'd still be doing some dps. I'd say it's more like a tank back tanking and using flash to hold hate only.

Back when I was a fresh 50 on my SCH I wasn't super comfortable DPSing at first. What I did was I practiced doing my DPS spells without cleric stance to give myself a safety net where I could heal if I needed to. This helped me get a feel for the timing and when I did add in cleric stance it was an easy transition.

Also keep in mind that during longer casts you can hit cleric stance again before the cast finishes and it'll just drop after the spell is done and not during the spell. This will give you a lot more time to plan out your next move during the cast itself.

Just work on making it a regular thing you do and it'll be second nature before you know it. It doesn't matter what job you play, there's always ways to improve yourself and just saying "I'm great" is a surefire way not to do that.

That's exactly the image I'm referring to. She doesn't want to learn about nature or communing with the elements, not <doing anything that isn't healing>. There's more behind the context of that sentence, but people are taking it for face value and applying it something unrelated.

Really it is a matter of using the screenshot because it fits the topic, however brother E-Sumi-Yan states that she can barely use attack magic because she doesn't want to learn anything other than healing. So indirect as it is wanting to do nothing but heal is called out in her story.

Excuse me it is not being lazy. I took healer to heal not DPS. If I wanted to DPS I would play a DPS class. If I keep everyone alive then I am doing my job.

Do you also expect the DPS to throw heals too? If no then why do you expect healers to DPS?

Perhaps not exclusively, but if it's needed it should be used. If it's in your tool kit it should be used.

I actually think you're reading too much into it. She says multiple times throughout that she has learnt her Conjure spells purely to heal, and when she learns to embrace the elements, she then begins attacking, and mentions she realises the importance of that part too, not just drawing from the elements, but the power of offence as well.

Honestly though I think this is why they made AST, for people that don't want to dps can at least buff and inadvertently help the cause.

Ha! Buffs aren't heals either, so why should I throw cards at people as an AST? I'm a healer.
