I'm just going to put my mundane things here, because I'm not going to go on a tangent about the core mechanics I feel need fixing.

I definitely want more fleshed out GCs. They haven't been updated at all and really should be.

Ascian minion. Lahabrea minion. Elidibus minion. I don't care, give me one. Please. I beg you.

More TT cards and the ability to use more than 1 rank 4 or 5. Like maybe 1 Rank 4 and 1 rank 5, or two Rank 4s or something when you hit 100 cards.

    Graniteskin. Give it back.

While maybe not for 2016, TERA did something I felt was extremely nice in that they lowered the stat requirements and basically revamped entire old end-game story dungeons that no one ran anymore because they were irrelevant, eg turning them from 6 players to 3 - or 4, in XIV's case. This could work well for the future with Coil and, a year or two down the road, old Alex areas.

Doing this would add some level of variety while maintaining the basic skills. Not all classes would make the cut, but it would be interesting assuming the old classes get stat boosts to be on par with the jobs. And a good way to add weapon types that would be difficult to add... And in effect basically add up to 10 new jobs over night.
I hate knockin' people, and everything you've suggested so far in this thread I /thumbsup , but this one...they would literally have to remake the game to accomodate it. And to be honest...a lot of people would not be okay with it. It sounds like a great system, just not for XIV. Maybe down the road, for the next SE MMO...they do need to implement horizontal progression, though. Customization of some sort.

See, I disagree here, I think the Armoury System at it's base is perfectly fine, the problem is you have the large amount of players from FFXI expecting the more traditional Job system, and thus demanded that the Armoury System, which is based around the proficiency and skill in the use of a certain weapon be changed accordingly to a pseudo-Job system. Thus SE have been tinkering with the Armoury System, experimenting with changes to it which seem fine on paper but which don't quite work well in practice (first they tried having multiple Jobs branching off the one class with ACN splitting into SMN and SCH, and well, we know how that turned out. Next they tried with Heavensward having 'extra Jobs' that have no base class and literally start at level 30 - naturally this resulted in players having to get used to new classes immediately that normally would have taken time to get experience with. This too has arguably been less than satisfactory.).

Hence, in my ideal world, SE would just go back to the beginning and scrap these experiments, split SCH from ACN and give it it's own base class (Mediator?), and create base classes for AST, DRK and MCH (as an idea, Mystic, Ravager and Musketeer respectively?), and bring some consistency to the Armoury System. But I digress...

Getting back on track, my wishlist is pretty much just what I've been longing for since ARR's launch - the restoration of certain 1.0 elements and ideas that were lost in the change to ARR:

The Path Companions returning to compliment chocobo companions
The missing 1.0 music tracks returning like Navigator's Glory and Piece of Mind
An option to change the UI's graphic style and font to 1.0's interface style (only without that stupid slide out menu)
The missing 1.0 maps like the West Shroud, the rest of Coerthas, the southern half of Mor Dhona, and the missing 1.0 open dungeons like the Mun-Tuy Cellars and the Nanawa Mines

Apart from that, I would love to also see:

Trains added as a form of transport in and out of Ul'dah into Thanalan like how the ferries work in Limsa and Gridania
FATEs altered slightly in that you are asked if you would actually like to join (like how Campaign Battles in FFXI work) instead of automatically including you in it if you happen to pass through it regardless of whether or not you actually want to participate
More FFXI-themed armour returning (my personal choices are the Eisen tank set and the Novenial dress)

I agree whole heartedly with your post. The Armory System sounded great, basing jobs on combinations of weapon based classes works well in my opinion. I'm not sure that arcanist blending into two jobs was a big mistake though, the mistake was allowing levelling SCH to simultaneously level SMN. The HW jobs starting at 40 was a mistake as you say, it makes it very much more difficult to get into these jobs effectively since the just kind of pop into existence from nothing. I'd very much like it if they could find their way back to the Armory System, and use the classes to build weapon proficiency, and class combination to formulate new jobs which then develope independently of their associated classes.

For the love of GOD, please do something about the housing situation. I am one of the ones that /still/ does not have a house despite playing this damn game for a ridiculous amount of time. I have the money, but I don\\'t have the time nor the desire to sit in front of a potentially inactive house (awesome timer system you guys have, as well) to get a feature that should be open to everyone.

Either make instanced housing a thing (real houses, not this apartment shit) with pre-rendered neighborhoods to give it the neighborhood vibe and people can zone to your house if they are in your party and you are the leader OR have the server automatically open up a new ward when wards are 90-95% full. With that system, it keeps dead servers\\' wards low so it saves resources and you can divert resources/server space to the servers that need it. Really tired of dumping money into this shitheap only to get denied a feature due to "server limitations." Time to upgrade your Pentium IIs.

I think the original 1.0 Armory System would have been met with less resistance if the classes had been traditional Final Fantasy ones. But they had a design ethos that everything had to be different from FFXI originally, which led them to design classes that didn't "feel" like Final Fantasy.

I think the system we have now works well enough, but my compulsive need for...uh, I guess, symmetry, makes certain aspects of it drive me batty. I think we need more jobs branching off of base classes, just so SCH/SMN aren't the only one. As mentioned a few posts back, a dual wielding, DPS-based, branch off of Gladiator would be great, using Raubahn's fighting style for inspiration. I've always thought MRD should have had a DPS component as well (with Ravager or Berserker being the most likely suspects from other Job-system games), though that's rather unlikely to ever happen now that WAR itself has such viable DPS options (and it's probably unnecessary for the same reason).

I would also like to see THF and/or DNC branch off from ROG. I've always loved THF in FF games, and was really hoping to get AF for it when they started talking about a dagger-based class. They've generally thrown some bones in that direction at least (with the Kirimu set having a very similar style to various THF designs in other FF games). Getting a proper Ranger off of Archer would be great, too.

In a similar vein, the lack of base classes for DRK, AST, and MCH really bothers me. But at least there's not just one of them, so they sort of feel like they have a category all their own.

    And I want Musketeer! It bothers me so very much that the guild in Limsa is sitting there unused. >.>;

Really? I think the mistake was making ACN a DPS... Carbuncle was historically more of a healer, no? Certainly more of a support rather than attack dog, at least... The whole Bio/Miasma/Virus set of skills also fits perfectly with SCHs lore in this game, where they were essentially Nymian doctors... The whole sickness based attacks fits perfectly IMO...

I'd rather have seen SMN given its own thing... Split it off completely, slap it behind the MSQ like the Heavensward Jobs. Why? Because then you've beaten all the Primals, and all of them can come as standard rather than worrying about all this fluff like Egi-Glamours... Revamp the entire Job to work similar to how Bahamut works, with both elemental wheels for the main six Primals (Fire>Ice>Wind and Earth>Lightning>Water). So you build Inferno and Tremor stacks at the same time, bust out Ifrit, you've then spent your fire stacks so wind (Garuda/Vortex) stacks take over and you can do the same for Titan, all the while building up for Bahamut. My biggest gripe with SMN is that you summon a pet once, then maybe again when it dies... Heck, my biggest gripe with the Job in past titles is that the old summons eventually got replaced... Make them all part of the Jobs rotation and you have a Job worthy of the name IMO.

Then just slap much of the old concept for SMN onto RDM. DPS with a heal and raise? It's RDM, makes sense. Sword and magic? Apply DoTs with magic. Apply Fester with sword. Would make for an interesting magic fencer style Job...

All that said, I still want Musketeer > Scholar to be true...

    Oh, that reminds me;

Revamp the Companion system. Step 1, Gambit System. Step 2, more than just Chocobos. Chocobos can be the customization option, other companions? Copy FFXI and just give us a bunch of story relevant NPCs... I think starting with many of the forgotten Class Guild NPCs would be nice... Few of the Job ones, assuming plot hasn't gotten in the way... Imagine having Fray at your side instead of a Chocobo that spams Medica instead of healing you properly? Well, the Gambit system would sort that out anyway, but still, Fray > Chocobo.

    My wish list:

    Fix PVE endgame:
ATM is really boring; just grind 2 dungeons and doing weekly VoidArk for the 99% and 4 Floors of As for the 1%. Playing since launch is really odd since HW. All intent of new content have been a fail lately (Diadem – LoV- Choco Race) no one doing those things and no actual reason to do it... or they just suck like Diadem mindless skill spam.
Then SE throws us a bone (like Relic) to force us to spam old content over and over again….

    Fix FCs content:
Be in a guild in this game is less beneficial compare to several others MMO, FCs buff sucks, no guild content at all (like GW2 quest), carfting facilities sucks, Workshop is just a money sink and brings crap.

    Fix housing:
Housing suck. Nothing to do, besides decoration. Gartering is irrelevant and most of the seeds are just cheap crap. No real reason to have a house besides waste money. No reason to go to other ppl houses. Take Archerage and Aion as examples of housing.

    Fix PVP:
40-60 min queues? Farm the same BG over and over for 5000 times to get the rank to buy already obsolete gear? PVP just a zerg fest? … pvp suck. Make all BGs worth it and PVP progression a real option to gear a char. Make BGs smaller, lets us actually be able to make a difference during every fight and not just follow the zerg and spam things. Let casters (and now BRD-MCh) cast without interruption or add the “concentration” stat to reduce the chance to be interrupt… so many thing wrong with pvp.

    Fix BRD-MCh:
I want my archer to be an archer not a caster with DoTs…. I even get interrupt lite mages… wth?

    Fix SMN:
SMN is a joke here…. Just a nuker with an ugly thing following u. I want my SMN to own/control amazing egis and actually be his main source of dps.
    MidCore content:
Where is it? Everything is a faceroll or a HUGE wall.

    EVERYTHING on DF:
If I want to wipe 5000000000 times that’s MY PROBLEM. Stop forcing ppl to make statics or premade full parties. In low population servers like Goblin that’s a HUGE wall for us to try stuff. Waiting 60 min in PF to find ppl suck. Change raiding loot system.

    Fix tanking:
Make tanking about… be a tank, mitigate dmg, not just another DPS holding agro during 99% of the fights

    Fix crafting:
Crafting should be a way to make money and gear up for pvp/pvp not just a waste of money. Every crafting job should be able to do useful/ rewarding things by itself.

    Fix the inventory system:
For a game where glamour is a daily thing we have TERRIBLE inventory system. Make something like GW2.

    Fix... events

Design actual events and not just 30 min seasonal quests. Events should be a way to take us away from routine for an extended period. STOP being lazy! Add USEFULL stuff as event rewards (mounts, crafting mats -after fixing crafting-… experience tomes/ food, special choco food, minions, great FC food, cards) and not just glamour things for the fanboys/ whiter knights.

    Fix Triple Triad

Lets us play Triple Triad/ LoV Everywhere and be able to watch other ppl matches. Rework / add more variety of achievements/ weekly achievements. Add/ rework complex rules to make it easier to get for newbie’s. Revamp the tournaments and reduce the amount of matches we need.

My love to all the fanboys / white knights how think everything is GREAT and DeVs need to focus on skins and emotes…. Wish I could be so… positive? (Everything is awesome.. everything is cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDOog0XS8Qg )

A wishlist doesn't have to be balanced, does it? Cos I'd really love for Ninja to get more Ninjutsu... Don't need more Mudra, just have Dream within a Dream apply a status effect which changes the effect of the existing ones... I mostly just want Huton to be Utsusemi and Suiton to force Hidden (by creating a dense fog to hide in), maybe Raiton being a self Goad similar to the Spire. Direct damage Doton? A placed trap, which needs to be triggered in Katon? Hyoton could add ice damage to attacks... IDK, I'm one of the few people who wants more skill bloat, because having situational skills makes things like soloing old content a hell of a lot more fun.

Oh, come to think of it...

Give me back Perfect Dodge and make it so Hide actually works again. It doesn't work on anything these days, it's really quite sad... One of my fondest memories on Ninja was using Hide to sneak all the way to the first boss in Darkhold, and activating the door so we didn't have to deal with his AoE. That and sneaking away to get Treasure Chests that would otherwise be skipped. The speed you move at, and the fact that Hidden simply doesn't work anymore, completely destroys that, though... I don't even want complete immunity from detection... Have Ninja able to see enemies line of sight/range of hearing, and have Hide reduce the radius on them. Then sneaking past still requires you to pay attention... I would much rather have a trait that displays enemy LoS/etc. than have All Fours... All Fours does nothing outside PvP, just replace Malmsight with it, since Malmsight doesn't do anything anyway, and give me something useful in PvE... I find sneaking around fun, make Hide worthwhile again, and have dungeons where it is perhaps advantageous to sneak past, grab the objective, then sneak back, and perhaps I wont be calling dungeons in this game pathetically boring, too (the last puzzle we got was in Qarn, what's up with that?).

Thinking it over, I probably like the idea of Hide being useful because it provides options... My biggest complaint with this game is that very rarely are there multiple ways to tackle a piece of content... Dungeons are completely linear, for example... One of the reasons I love the undersized party option, and think it's the greatest thing Heavensward added, is because it lets you attempt old content differently. I'm sure most went into the dungeons unsynced with a full party for optimal speed when it came to that section of the Anima quest, but personally I took it as a challenge to attempt to do the dungeons with as little help as possible, and I had an absolute blast in the process. More options in content would be great, not just "do we have the Ninja sneak off and grab the key for a minute, or do we spend a minute fighting past the enemies?" (the illusion of choice), but which route we take in a dungeon, which bosses we fight... I'd take one dungeon like that, over ten of the dungeons we currently get, TBH...

Make walking dead more noticable than a tiny debuff. I'm dyin over here!
Also, perfect dodge was good, shade shift, its forgettable and what little it blocks doesn't block much.

    Quests
Relic quest- please make the reward worth more than a flavor of the month weapon, if stats are too much, find some other thing than it looks pretty and we chuck it for 10% off.

    Cutscenes/minigame?
an we have something like qte or options that change what our character does in cutscenes? Not all of us enjoy the whole "stand on the sidelines acting passively" bit. I'd love seeing something like that in game.

    Emotes
Cannot go wrong with more expressions and new emotes from what we used in the scenes in HW.
