Honestly, that is a poor excuse. Materia should drop from dungeons at a common pace if Dungeon gear will have materia slots.

I wish I could like your post 1000 times. =3
But dungeon gear won't have materia slots... Sure, they can make materia drop from raids. I don't think anyone would care though. But you're asking basically for stuff which already has easy ways of getting. And those are also not the only ways of obtaining them (materia was in the game before 3.0). You also have the option of not using materia.

And being kicked from groups for not being good enough. Yeah, i've already experienced that in many games. Not a pleasant experience.

You might as well say: "Quit the game."

You also have the option of not putting on your helmet or chest plate. However, nobody wants to do that.

The difference is, I can get a helmet and chest plate from the dungeons. However, I can't fill the slots doing that.

    2. That's how most MMOs work? Gear is a relevant feature of the progression.
    1) Yep. Spiritbond parties will be a big thing once people find the most effective way to do it.

    2) Not even that, only the top-tier groups will be big on perfect stats and all. Mid and low tier groups won't care much, because those tiny stats from melds won't matter at all (no matter what they think. If you don't have the skill and knowledge to use your gear properly, you could be i210 and still do less damage than someone in lv50 gear). Unless you're looking for a top-tier group, anyone who cares a ton about tiny bits of stats is probably not a group you want to be in anyway. Plenty of groups out there that don't care, especially if they're newer as well

95% of players don't raid regardless of gear. A whole bunch of ya can't do more than 500 dps no matter how good your gear is. And the content is tuned so low it could prob be beaten with half your gear missing. I don't see how this will effect anything.

To get materia u need to :

Spiritbound until cows come home...and hope u get the materia u want (REMOVE MATERIA RESISTS FROM THE GAME ALREADY !$!$!$!!$!)

or farm diadem until u get all the materia u need...by the time u got enough spoils to get materia u will probably hate the game or quit....

Materia needs to be buyable from the lowest tomes in 3.2 or drop from chest in dungeons...or something because the new materia in 3.2 is going to be a mess...

cant wait to get a new piece of gear and being unable to equip it right away until is melded....

PF will require ppl fully melded to get invites , if u dont have your gear melded = u dont care about your perfomance. No invite....why invite some1 that doesnt have materias when u can invite a fully melded one? Ilvl 240 + full melded or kick!

If you're being kicked from a group because you're not good enough, it's very unlikely to be related to you missing a few melds.

Keep in mind that while the tomestone gear will become meldable, you won't be able to overmeld it. You just get 1-2 materia and be done with it for a piece of gear, as there's 0% chance of any materia getting destroyed in the process.

Are we talking about actually raiding or PUGs? Statics won't really care gear you have when 3.2 hits. PUGs? Sure (who pugs anyway?). They can also (rightfully) kick warriors playing without provoke. What's wrong with having prerequisites (i.e. standards) to progress on the hardest content of the game? That said, PUGs aren't for progression so that point is moot. If you want to seriously clear content then practice with the same(static) group of people. And as I said, statics don't care about your gear, they care about your skill (apparently the opposite in PUGs).

Honestly, if you're not good enough for a group, you're not good enough for the group and being kicked is more likely a good thing. Being the guy holding back 7 others because you're not skilled enough just makes them resent you and things worse overall. Find groups at your skill level, not out of your league.

Believe it or not, materia bonuses will not help you if you aren't skilled. Heck, right now, if you're not skilled enough, someone in worse gear can easily out-dps you. I've done it (picked up DRG again after 4 months, out-dpsed DRG mains with me having gear an average of 10ilv less than them).

If this is the main problem you're having...you need to get better at your job, not look for excuses why a good group will turn you down (and believe me, only the most elitist groups will turn someone down for not having melds if they're good; most will actually help you get what you're missing if you are at their level and are good.)

Outside of the top raids, any time you would get kicked without fully melded gear, there's a 98% chance you would have been kicked with fully melded gear.

A few hundred secondary stats doesn't double your dps, or make you use a CD at the right time, or heal properly. If you're good at your job, 6 month old gear is enough to handle any content that isn't hardcore.

What? You get gil thrown at you from every direction. Heck, there were less ways to get gil back then compared to now. EVEN AT LAUNCH gil came from allagan coins in chests rather than mob drops. People had to manage money to not go broke due to repairs and the like.

Jeeze, I guess you don't know how good you have it right now lol.
