Yea. Thsi is a major issue I notice. When I do low level que, I just go through the dungoun. If someone asks me "Hey, can you do X?" or "Hey, can you do Y?" I'll often oblige them and do what they ask.

When I get cutter's cry, I tend to ask "Do we want to skip the adds on the way or do we want ot kill them?" (After the first boss, easily skipped adds.)
    >> I've gotten pretty positive responses from people asking. Usually if there's dissension we just hold it to a vote and go with that.

It's like people are afraid to talk in an MMO.

You WILL lose aggro against scaled down people if they are bent on grabbing it. Nothing you can do.
Also as fresh 60, item level difference can be a real pain.

It's the job of the DPS to assess what the tank is capable of and DPS within these constraints w/o pulling threat (unless the mob hits like a wet noodle/dies on the way to the DPS, it that case no one cares), that's why FF-XIV has a built in aggro meter.

I tank according to the following motto: whomever manages to gain aggro gets to keep it. (Healer excluded)

All I expect is that people use their keyboards and tell me.
If they treat me like a bot I will pull in the most efficient manner known to me.

Unless I need xp. Then every mob is a valid target, again until the others speak up and ask me to stop that.

    Most of them are.
    Why?
Bad experience: say something wrong -> get booted by asshats.

Also why many keep quiet if they are new.

Honestly, I feel this is ultimately a design issue by the devs. When people are looking at over an 100+hour grind, the last thing they want to do is make the parts of it take longer. A 20 minute run going to 25-30 minutes looks like a 100+ hour grind going to 150+ hour grind.

Honestly, I steal hate in Expert dungeons with tanks in 205 weapons, nevermind scaled down stuff. When I am in Expert, I am hugging the tank so they can easily grab it back. When I am doing a leveling dungeon, I don't care if I am tanking.

Meh, most trashmobs fall into the "noodle" category anyway.
I'm quite often tanking myself as a WHM if I am too trigger happy with the Assize/Halo combo.

Lets just say: if a trash mob were to instagib you, it would be your responsibility NOT to aggro it.

Yeah for sure, on bosses and stuff I'll ease up if I get to the orange, but on trash, meh.

    Have you tried asking?
Just to clarify, we were queued only for Stone Vigil, Dzemael Darkhold, and Aurum Vale, and yes we asked to get exp, and were met with critisicm or rudeness several times. Nearly every party I got into had 3 people wanting exp and only the tank wanted to rush or leave and a few of those tanks even said they just wanted their bonus and to get out ASAP.
When its 3 people wanting experience and only one person wanting quick completion, dont be rude. You accepted a duty for low level dungeons. Chances are that means people are there for experience. Especially considering it takes DPS 15-30mins to get in a dungeon its very slow for them to level and learn to play, while as a tank its usually instant anyways. Be patient and flexible and we'll all get what we want, it just might take an extra 2 minutes of your time. Surely you can give up that much?

They don't even give more exp than the seedlings, so it doesn't matter if they hatch or not...

I just got some friends to start playing FFXIV with me. This situation does not sound welcoming at all.

The trash mob ones give more exp if they hatch, the ones @ the boss however don't.

    ------------
What really got me last night was this tank in Stone vigil. He kept trying to avoid mobs that we shouldnt have been able to avoid but just got lucky because they were facing away, the tank then ignored me when I asked if we could not avoid them because 3 of us needed exp. Then the tank tried to avoid the next set of mobs as they were also facing away. When I asked again to fight them, he demanded to know why I wanted them so bad, and we all said again that we needed exp. He pretty much just got pissy at this and said he just wants to get his bonus and leave... so then he tried to pull the last 2-3 sets of mobs in Stone Vigil and died in about 6 seconds before I could even fire a heal at him. Which is funny because then we had to kill the mobs he ignored to get back there... Which was his own fault to begin with and is its own just reward.

    Despite needing exp on my own job, I went PLD after that so I could get my hubby's MCH caught up. I was getting so sick of princess tanks after two days of putting up with their attitudes. ^^;

I'm sorry that happened to you op. I run leveling as well since it gives 100 poetics (it does, ran it 2 days in a row), and even though I heal, I have no issue with running them for exp. Everybody who queue's up leveling roulette should know that people are "leveling" hence the name. On the other hand, SE should make it to where you can queue up as a party, so this can be avoided.
