You WILL lose aggro against scaled down people if they are bent on grabbing it. Nothing you can do.
Also as fresh 60, item level difference can be a real pain.

It's the job of the DPS to assess what the tank is capable of and DPS within these constraints w/o pulling threat (unless the mob hits like a wet noodle/dies on the way to the DPS, it that case no one cares), that's why FF-XIV has a built in aggro meter.

I tank according to the following motto: whomever manages to gain aggro gets to keep it. (Healer excluded)

Yeah, you have to be flexible. If you're a high level tank, there's nothing wrong with pulling just the quick normal path. But if someone, or the majority, wants the exp, you should be respectful of that too.

All I expect is that people use their keyboards and tell me.
If they treat me like a bot I will pull in the most efficient manner known to me.

Unless I need xp. Then every mob is a valid target, again until the others speak up and ask me to stop that.

It's like people are afraid to talk in an MMO.

Most of them are.
Why?
Bad experience: say something wrong -> get booted by asshats.

Also why many keep quiet if they are new.

The reason why your losing hate is simple a class flaw in paladin and enmity compared to Warriors and Dark knights. (The two superior tanks)

Your not to blame in the slightest if your trying your best.
