Since I'm just scrolling around the forums at the moment, might as well take time in answering this thread!

I DPS as a healer. As a scholar, white mage and astrologian. I like variety, so why not try all three healing classes for fun! I take DPS'ing as a challenge. If I can contribute to dps'ing as much as an average dps while doing my healing job right, I'm doing things right! go me!

What DOES piss me off, are the healers that spend all their mana DPSing, then yell at me before a boss because I didn't stop and wait for them to get to full mana. 1) Shut up. You decided to waste your mana before the boss fight, now learn to manage it properly. 2) Shut up. Every healing class has a way to regen mana. 3) Shut up. I leveled all three healing classes, and know for a fact that you can keep me alive on the mana you have now. 4) Shut up.
I can quote things, fun! We don't have insta-heal abilities for nothing. If you drop to 25% health, don't panic, dear tank! we're just stretching our dps output until we're forced to use those insta-casts! Go essential dignity, tetragrammaton and lustrate; you're finally useful!

Healing is not rocket science. At 60 you have so many tools to manage your MP and boost your healing output that you do not need to be mindful of your MP. I often go to bosses with what seems like 10% of my MP left and I'm not even mad! Tank wants to wait? dash on! BRD wants to pop mage's ballad mid-fight? No need to sing your ballads for me. I'm an independent healer!

I can generate MP alarmingly easy while keeping dps slightly lower for a bit. Of course you can always throw a DoT or two while actually paying attention to MP management.

Of course if your dps aren't pulling their weight with AoE trashpulls, we might have a problem. But a good healer will see this and act accordingly (Moar Holy for the boys!). Now, raids are a different thing, but I think that's a completely different discussion.

Rule of thumb for y'all
DF dungeons: Cleric stance is your main stance, you're not a healer, you're extra dps and damn proud of it.
Raids and ex primals: Sweet mother of god how y'all taking so much damage? Let me DPS goddamnit! (Well, depending on your job you might be able to dps a big portion of time there, too. As a scholar, I'm just a summoner in disguise when serious damage output ain't slapping my party)

Thank you and keep on deepsing!
