Oh I could have sworn job system was one of the things promised for end-of-summer, but I guess that just goes to show how cloaked in PR speak it really was if it managed to convince someone so suspicious as me.not sure they really promised jobs by end of summer, even though it may have seemed that way when they talked about it in the same time they mention end of summer plans. The end of summer plan deadline was very weird, because it talks about doing a plan for implementation, but then mentions completing the quests, and the armor. So how is it that they plan to have the gear and quests ready before they even have a plan for the jobs? idunno. Strictly speaking though, jobs werent really planned for end of summer. But a number of things that were, are in the next patch which is actually going to drop in fall.
My only qualm with making Archer also Bard is... We already have a bard NPC and he most definitely uses a dagger and is extremely fabulous. It creates a bit of dissonance since the Bard NPC doesn't resemble this Bardcher at all go figure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
たまねぎララフェル
well although he does have a gladiators throwing knives, he does have an archers body tunic thing. they just got to show him runnin around with a bow. Honestly though no matter what i dont think people were expecting bard to get throwing knives, so going by him, isnt really necessary.
The only thing I can agree on is your edit. It does look like an archers hat, even in xi it had a feather. The Roegadyn from the pic seems, to me, to be the rdm. It is also between both the blm and the whm in the pic.
Please consult your doctor before starting a mmorpg. Do not play mmorpgs if you have a life and other real world reponsibilities. Side effects may include: weight gain, pasty skin tone, greasy skin, acne, bad breath, out dated wardrobe, shoes lasting longer than origionally planned, dirty habitation, eye strain, depression, anxiety, crabbiness', increase in 1337 speak, confusion, insomnia, loss of appetite, sore thumbs, sore bums, tingling hands, stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, constipation, high blood pressure, diabetes, shortened life span, chain smoking, connectile disfunction and death.
hahaa, i just imagined the community wtf stunned disbelief if they actually made marauder into a rdm.
HAHAHA AHAH aHa man barcher was wild, but maredmage? insanity.
that aside, since they forced archer to bard, dont rule out axe weilding rdms with no actual magic.
Reading that got me excited about a nature themed tank job focusing on ranged+melee combat. Her abilities would include picking an area and activating abilities to tank or buff anything inside that area. What about Ranger?
Well, frankly, Ranger never really meant "fights at a range," anyway. A ranger ranges over an area, as in travels and guards it. In FFXI, sure, they were known for their bows, but their primary weapon was a dagger.
...
If I may speculate, if a class is someday built on "ranging" over and guarding the terrain and what's on it...
If any game makes a Ranger job/class like that, I'd be down.
...ooooo idea...
Claim Territory: The Ranger stakes their claim. Lasts X minutes.
Stand Your Ground: The Ranger gains defense and magic resist within their territory. Generates Bonus enmity for abilities performed in their territory. Cancels other territory bonuses.
Guerilla Tactics: Ranger gains evasion and accuracy while within their territory. Generates Less enmity from abilities performed in their territory. Cancels other territory bonuses.
Sanctuary: Allies within territory gain a bonus to defenses, healing, and reduced enmity for 10 seconds if they are inside your territory.
Why do I envision Bards doing ranged attacks ala Kung Fu Hustle?

He is a bard as in "poet".
I could totally see a bard guild be a cover-story for a darker underbelly of society
... aka thievery job![]()
