Wings instead of JUST flying mounts?

Well, as long as we're asking for things we aren't going to get, I want to be able to travel by using "jump" like Eistenian does in cutsceans, I want some kind of nock back skill forndragoons so I can shout "Rus Fo Dah!" Every time I send an enemy flying, and I not only want cloud's fenrir motorcycle, I want it to fly. And I want a Lazar for my Mana Cutter mount.

I don't expect Yoshi to implement every suggestion on the forum. I do expect people to be respectful of others wishes and not shoot stuff down, because they wouldn't use it or it doesn't fit well with their immersion. That just seems ridiculous given everything else we have in game.

That said, I do expect people to poke holes in suggestions that don't work. Me pointing out that lore is a horrible reason to counter this, due to all the other lore-unfriendly additions we have, is me pointing out an error in others pointing an error in this suggestion.

Though to be honest I thought it was funny when they tried putting in glowing armor, and nobody liked it.

To answer your question:
Because of lazyness and or convenient/easiness. Whenever a possibility arises to do certain things faster and or easier, people will do just that.

I think you're misunderstanding both what I'm asking you and what the OP is asking for. Wings would, in all likelihood and as requested by the op, act exactly the same as any other mount. They wouldn't be any faster, or more convenient. They'd be purely cosmetic.

What I was asking is why you were assuming that they wouldn't be exactly like any other mount.

Aion is Aion, FFXIV is FFXIV. You don't want people putting things like pandaren, gnome punting or quests involving you throwing bear cubs (safely) onto trampolines now, do you? If the developers start adding random things that either have no build up or just for the sake of it, it starts losing the original identity of the game being Final Fantasy, and more of a fantasy kitchen sink.

Wings are hardly exclusive to Aion, and Aion's flight system is absolutely nothing like flight here. I don't think asking for wings in a fantasy game is the same as asking for them to copy paste races from other mmos.

Mm fair enough. Guess I'm less opposed to this since this is the only Final Fantasy game I've ever played so I know next to nothing about FF outside of 14.

The Warrior of Light is able to manipulate aether so how would using aether energy to be able to fly be a stretch?

One time with Hydaelyns aid and tremendous power. The other two times had tremendously powerful foci to gather, manipulate and direct the aether.

Otherwise, the Warrior of Light's aether manipulation isn't shown to be particularly special.

I don't really see an issue with Cid and the rest of Garlond cooking up something.

Maybe they're required in lieu of paratroops for some sort of mass landing of Ishgardian troops or something, I dunno. But seriously, I don't see them as lore breaking. We have miniature cats that somehow manage to make functional aether-wings.
