we had one hard ... they nerf it because people wined.
People ditched Pharos (original) not because it was too hard (it wasn't), but because it took longer to get the same rewards (tomes) that you'd get from doing an easier dungeon. It was an issue of time, not trouble.

What happened with Pharos is completely different than what I want with four-man raid dungeons. I'm not talking about slightly harder dungeons for people to burn through each week just to get the same tomes they could get anywhere else. I'm talking about a completely different arm of endgame with its own unique rewards and incentives, and also a dungeon with unique challenges that you wouldn't find in typical leveling/grind dungeons.

And SE could be creative with roping endgame raid dungeons and other types of content together! For example, what if you could farm up pop items in Diadem that could then be used to pop elite NMs inside certain raid dungeons? And perhaps getting to that spawn point would require taking a different path than a group going for a straight-up dungeon completion? This could even be used to keep raid dungeons relevant indefinitely, because new spawn points could be added for popped NMs with all kinds of iLevels.... so even three years from now, there could still be value in a party if i500 players entering the i190 raid dungeon.

SE needs to start thinking outside the box.

I support this idea. Not that I think I would do it. But more options. They could even add an option when running the dungeon to increase the difficultly like they do with leves. Imagine if you will increating all mob HP by 200%, etc.

Rewards could be better, or the same, it doesn't matter. But there could be cool unique titles, and other things that players could shoot for.

    I'm all for more options.

it most definitely does matter. most people won't do it if the rewards are not worthwhile.

If anything, the rewards should be different -- at least as good as the current crop of tome gear, and possibly even upgradable with materials found in different raid dungeons (or even in the Diadem).

To be a true arm of endgame, the rewards must be worthy of endgame.

Imagine how much more fun and engaging endgame would be if it consisted of 8-man raids, 4-man raid dungeons and a FC-friendly Diadem (that undergoes changes so it's more than just a loot pinata)?

That's the kind of balance this game's endgame needs.

Also, each raid dungeon COULD have a crafting/gathering path. What if after fighting through a path and beating a boss, you could end the dungeon by changing jobs and collecting from rare gathering points with exclusive finds? Or maybe you fight your way to Forsaken Workbench of Doom, which is the only place where you can craft certain items? That's just shooting from the hip, but again, there's just so much SE could do with the raid dungeon concept.

This content would never need to become obsolete. There are all kinds of ways SE could add/expand each dungeon to keep them relevant for years to come.

It would be neat if there were also a harder version of the regular leveling dungeons too. In destiny they did this where it had more hard mobs that did more damage, etc. for more XP and more item drops. It was pretty nice but overall the dungeon itself was the same just the challenge was slightly higher. If they introduced something like this, maybe have the low tier dungeon drop normal dungeon gear but the high level tier drop dyeable gear with maybe bonus stats that were random or materia slots.

I would love 4-person raids though, one of the nice thing about super-op-unsync is it easier to get groups together for my coil glamour runs because I can never find 7 or 8 people to do it, usually 6 at most.

It would be pretty nice to have some challenging content outside of 8 man parties. Would bring some variety into the game for sure.

Making content for 1% of players will never work.
People only "whined" because it was in roulette, had mediocre rewards and why do the hard one with the same reward when there are more easy ones? Come on lol, got to think here for a second...if the rewards were worthwhile, god forbid they put in our 1.x gear with our old stats we been asking for and told we'd get...or something worth our time besides the SAME REWARD as other more EASY dungeons...I do not think anyone would "whine".

It sounds good at first, but look what they did give us: the ability to run instances at minimum item level. What happens? People run at lv60 unsynced.. Lol. I've really been wanting to do some throwback coils at min item level but can't get enough people to join. I tried duoing t5 just myself on war and a sch, we got to snakes after a few attempts, would need to spend more time in there to have gotten a clear though. Just saying, I don't know how well something like being able to increase the difficulty would take off.

If there was a 4-man raid I would definitely check it out. I do like the 8-mans though, wouldn't want them to get rid of them, it allows them to design more intricate tank/healer/dps mechanics
