A polite request regarding steel spoils. Could we please increase the spawn rate much higher because if we are gonna go and gather for 90 mins I would like to come out with at least 30 and not 4 or 9. It is a long quest and does deserve a much better spawn rate.

    Cheers

A particularly important point we've seen in feedback is that players would like a system in place to help with situations where there are both players who want to battle and those who want to gather grouped together in one party…If we set a rule making it so that players who don't take part in battles can't lot on loot, we would end up with people simply going off to gather since they don't need lotting rights, which would mean that we could potentially weaken the battle capabilities of parties.
So, to paraphrase: "We're getting reports of people looting without contributing to battle at all. If we take away their loot rights, they'll continue to not contribute to battle and get no rewards. For some reason this is bad." I really hope this was just confusion in translation, because this logic makes no sense.

This is a feature that the development team very much wanted to implement at release; however, we became short on time and changed the system to the current interface, which has left us in a situation where it is easy to make mistakes. I apologize for the current inconvenience and wanted to let you know that we do plan on adjusting the interface.
Again, I hope this is a translation issue, because you just said that you ran short on time and deliberately changed the turnin window to one where you can turn in items from gear sets even though you already have systems that properly filter gear sets and armory chest items (that you could presumably copy the coding for and modify as needed).

Going out of order for a moment…

Really? Are the devs so out of touch with their own meta that they didn't see 1tank/1heal/6dps/zergthemobs being exactly what was going to happen as soon as they designed this? Have you forgotten that this game is all about doing the most dps you can without dying to mechanics (and Diadem has almost no mechanics)? Did the team really not test 3 parties of i200 players all blasting away on the same island? I mean, I thought maybe we had moved past the days of "What? PLD can use defensive CDs to survive BCoB attacks!?" but apparently we haven't.

The right to earn rewards can be attained in two ways:
    1. Be the first party to perform an attack on a monster. (This alone secures the right to earn rewards.)
    2. Reduce the monster's HP by a certain amount via attacking.

A lot of the feedback we have been receiving are requests to make it so it is impossible to simply guarantee a reward by performing the first attack, pulling back, and then waiting for other parties to defeat the enemy.
I realize this can be a problem, but I just want to call your attention to an interaction between this point and the previous one that I'm not sure you've considered. Parties have to do X damage out of Y HP, and those values aren't going to change no matter how many parties are hitting the enemy, right? So if one of the parties says "Yo, we claimed the mob, we're getting credit anyway," and stop attacking, that means more of Y HP is available to the other parties. Sucks that the other parties are doing all the work, but it at least increases the odds they'll be getting credit for contributing. Also, why have you not gone with the hunts/fates method, where aggro generation is key? The mobs will always have the same HP, but if our healers can generate more aggro, that increases the odds parties will get credit.

Because you would have a party with 3 tanks and 1 or 2 healers doing everything and everybody else would be able to leech, while doing 0 dps.

Since the hotfix last night I logged in and my 210 Mist Gloves are gone! I didn't trade them in as gear set items do not show up. I checked that this morning to see if I could accidentally turn in gearset items. I checked my retainers both geared and stored items. They are simply gone! What happened????

    2. Reduce the monster's HP by a certain amount via attacking.
This system follows the fundamental system employed for FFXIV, but for the second method mentioned above, we have set it so that the percentage of HP needed to be reduced is lower than that of the normal open world.

A lot of the feedback we have been receiving are requests to make it so it is impossible to simply guarantee a reward by performing the first attack, pulling back, and then waiting for other parties to defeat the enemy.

If we simply made this the same as the second method mentioned above, we expect that we would have players complaining that their reward privilege was taken from them even though they landed the first attack. Due to this, we are currently considering making it so that parties that land the first attack on a monster will have to reduce its HP by a certain amount until the reward privileges are guaranteed, but the amount that needs to be reduced will be less than that for the second method.

If it looks like this is becoming a larger issue then we will proactively look into countermeasures, but since this is essentially a core system in FFXIV we would need time to address this separately for the Diadem. We ask that you please bear this in mind.
The first claim system has an unexpected benefit. The moment I notice that my Diadem parties get first claim on a star rank, the first direction I give is for our group to focus down adds. There's no other way to guarantee a chest while being a team player in Diadem. I'd like to see what other systems they put in place, but I doubt it will change the problem that when there's an S, everyone will focus on it ruining cross party teamwork.

Numerous parties hunting low ranking monsters in specific locations has become another topic of discussion. Hunting monsters in this fashion has created a situation where it is easy to get burned out because of the repetition. Moreover, the frequency of drops for high level gear is beyond what the development team expected, breaking the balance with other content. In order to solve this issue we will be making the following two adjustments in the upcoming hotfix:
    1. Adjustments to the rate at which monsters respawn

The time it takes for monsters to respawn will be adjusted, and the balancing will be changed so that instead of groups camping in certain locations, players can choose between hunting on the move or camping depending on the size and strength of their groups.

    2. Adjustments to certain notorious monsters spawning requirements

Changes will be made to the spawn requirements when several parties continue to defeat low rank monsters.
These adjustments—the second one in particular—are to address the imbalance between the effort required to defeat low ranking monsters, and the amount of high level gear players receive in the Diadem. This only applies when low ranking enemies are defeated by more than one party, and will not affect the drop rate of treasure chests or the gear obtained from them. Please accept our apologies that this was not well-balanced from the start. We realize that making these changes so suddenly is an inconvenience. We ask that you please understand that this is being done in order to maintain the overall balance of FFXIV.[/list]
In addition to the above, we've received a lot of feedback on the Diadem as it is a brand-new concept for FFXIV. We've been reading through all of your comments and using them as reference when developing upcoming content, as well as adjustments, so please continue to provide us with more great feedback.
The way I read this is, "We've noticed that too many people are enjoying Diadem and the loot that it can drop, to address this we're proactively making the content less appealing to players. We don't understand that getting a drop that is comparable to a normal 210 is rare, but we're still going to lower the amount of chests that you get and force you to deal with Turbine all day long to get those fewer chests."

I had a discussion with friends about this, I had faith that Yoshi wouldn't make the worst change possible. Since he felt the need to apologize in his post, it seems I was sorely mistaken.

I'm not sure if everyone realizes how good of a system Diadem is/was, it's one the few instances where you have a mixing of the community that doesn't involve elitism. Raiders and casual players team up to take down the content, I've met a lot of players doing Diadem that would of never of met otherwise in game.

Please do not ruin this content, it's the only reason I have to log on most days. I don't care about LoV, I also don't care about Void Ark. Diadem isn't the reason Void Ark is dead, Void Ark is the reason Void Ark is DoA. 50-60 minutes of slow grind for subpar gear, if it wasn't for the free twine at the end, most people I know wouldn't even bother.

Because that happens so often in hunts? I mean, I get that you have fewer people to work with, but I don't really see all three parties doing this. And even then, something like 2/3 of those tanks are going to be WAR, who are basically DPS anyway...

Ilvl 210 equipment are likely just going to be outdated in a patch or two anyway, so I sort of fail to see why drop rates needed to be nerfed on a "catch-up patch" when over half of all the 210 drops I've seen from Diadem have had laughable secondary stat values.

If people wanted to spam this content for over an hour each sitting all day long with the hopes that the next 210 piece they can use didn't look like secondary stats from Satasha, then I don't see why the devs had to get involved...

Lowering the rate of 210 would be ok, if they reduced the amount of crap 210s you get. Making those adjustments at the same time would of likely been ok. Also with DoL they should of made it where DoL mining produces chests that drop gear. Obviously at a much lower rate. Because we wouldn't want everyone to go ham on DoL and ignore monsters. I like the idea someone said where DoL would periodically give buffs. That would help, go get some items, and help your DoL, but then get a nice 50% dmg buff or something that is temporary, that way your time is made up for because you can now go destroy monsters at a increased rate for a short time.

Also I think they should of put gear drops in the npc as well. So when you get tokens from handing in gear, you can turn around and use those tokens to get a "chance" at getting gear from buying it. If anyone plays Diablo III you know what I'm talking about. I know its RNG again. But if they increased how much tokens you can get from gear, and used the tokens as a currency to get another shot at the gear you want, it would make it a bit better i think. So you spent 1.5 hrs in diadem, got 15 pinks you don't care about. You go trade them in, get 100 tokens. You go to the npc and hes got all of the pink gear. If your a tank, you click on fending category, and click on body. Then you spend 5 tokens, and a item appears in your inventory. Randomly selected from the fending/body pool. I think this would be great.
