    I would much rather SE continues to spend their time and resources on things like chocobos and new dungeons - stuff that actually adds something new to the game - rather than on creating stupid animations to appease you which, in the long run, do absolutely nothing. At the end of the day, whether you dodge the attack without moving or whether you dodge the attack by doing a flip, the chat log is still going to say "The hedgemole misses Tadacho." Get a grip.

    The thing is, FF was not sold as "Boring autoattack combat as per typical FF title" but instead: "active combat system where positioning matters"

    So people that say FFXIV should have autoattack and no emphasis on position/movement shouldn't have bought the game.

    agree with i like them adding new content but im not saying simple animations.....thats effin dumb....i wanna actually do the dodge myself....if i dont then i get hit....i dont think you understand i want to control my character.....not have any form of automated damage dodge or anything unless i dodge myself.... why not make it have more player control in battle?

    Animations take time to do in which the ff14 dev team dont have time to do because they have other things to work on to get this off the bare bones state.

    So the only way you're going to be able to dodge attacks in this game now is if you actively and continuously dodge them yourself?

    If you can give me one advantage to this system then sure, but I don't think you can (saying it would make battles more fun/interesting/strategic is not an advantage because this is all relative - what's fun to you might not be fun to me).

    Exactly. Think of the battle lag you experience already? SE has said this lag is primarily down to the animations. And yet you want to add even more user-controlled animations?

    When they add jumping, class-specific weapon animations and being able to cast whilst running, maybe you'll be happy, but surely you can see that adding anything as dramatic as what you want isn't going to achieve anything?

    It's a nice idea in theory and I'm sure it looks awesome in your mind's eye, but quite frankly it's just not feasible for this game. It doesn't fit in with the style and tone, it completely undermines SE's whole "positioning and strategy" ideology and would only add more problems than what it would solve.
