I mean, the leap from coming even from a FF game is big. And so, many prospective buyers wont play FF due to their perception of the combat as boring.

The R46 quest was pretty well-received (personally I thought it was tacky and over the top), which just goes to show that most people really do prefer action over boredom, contrary to what the FFXIV/SE defense force assures us.
This is not an action MMORPG Gift. It never was, and it probably never will be. It is an MMORPG with minor action elements that relate to real time combat, like positioning and distance. Not every game these days has to be an action game. You can still have fun with games that don't have heavy action elements just as you can enjoy a movie without explosions. I'm sorry this game didn't turn out to be the action packed high fantasy extravaganza you where apparently expecting it to be, but judging from the direction the game is flowing in, I'd suspect it will never go there.

And you know what?
That's fine.
