As for the hint about garlean attack at the end, I'm guessing we'll get rid of the ones at northern thanalan. Although I'm curious as to how the imperials would take this, To my knowledge the remaining 14th legionaries at NT and Mor Dhona (any eorzean castrum bascially) are pretty much exiles from garlemald anyway.

I think most things I spoted have been mentioned. It was short but there was a lot in it.

Im actually wondering now if the quests we are getting in 3.15 will continue the Ishgard story arc since it has to do with the clergy. I believe they said in an interview recently in 3.x they were looking to having storylines follow separate branches rather than cramming them all into on MSQ questline. I certainly got the feeling in this patch that they were setting that up with Thancred and Krile heading off to the Falling Stones to hunt the missing allies and we Alphinaud and Tataru are in Ishgard and its politics. Then there is Urianger and the Ascian/primal/Triad thing.

All I could think about, after watching the WoD scene is: Man... Our characters always stand in the background, like statues, while the npcs get to do all the cool fighting scenes. Anyone else wish our characters acted more like WoL and actually did some fighting, in these cut scenes?

Yeah but I understand why it doesn't happen. They would have to do separate cutscenes for each Job plus I suspect the principle in design is that if a character is involved in a fight the player should get to control the character during the fight.

At least they do give a nod sometimes as to why we aren't directly involved even if it is something like 'dazed from an echo vision'.

You can't have your Virgil-2 Fight without your Virgil-1. I can understand why they can not have animated cutscenes of our characters fighting, to do it right would require making literally 156 versions of that same fight scene with every class/race/gender combination (Although granted you could just weave in both genders for Lalafell and Elezen.) What a lot of story focused Japanese games with a created character usually do to circumvent this simply have the character grab hold of someone else's weapon and fight with that, but of course then you would have people calling it "out of character."

So I'll just take the next best thing, make it a duty. Yeah it won't visually look as impressive as Thancred's anime battle, but it's more pleasing to me the player to have a duty where the game shows me that Darklander is a threat not to be taken lightly rather than just getting ganked before anyone could have the chance to fight back.

Because yeah, if the WoD is being played as the Virgil to our Dante, our first fight should have been Dante vs Virgil, not Lady.

I really wish we could, i don't know the logistics, but this wouldn't be the first time we could weave in a quick fight jn the instance, and our character's state after in the cutscene.

As long as we don't get another Ul'Dah moment where

We get yanked out of our quest for peace with the dragons to discover that the Sultana is still alive, only to then return to our quest and never say a word about it again

I don't mind multiple branching storylines. In fact I think it might be interesting to see an A and a B route (a bit like the start of Heavensward, where you could choose to do the part with Emmanelain or Artoil(?) first) as long as we don't get shot between the two or more plotlines like a ball in a pinball machine.

Because that is what being suddenly told to go to Ul'dah felt like to me. Like I suddenly got shot way of course and then pushed back again like nothing ever happened.

But if we get like, and 'A route' and a 'B route' that must both be completed to continue with 'part C', that is fine with me. Maybe even preferable than trying to stuff it all into one.

Did no one else want to initiate a trade with the Lala of Darkness when she teleported out.

It would have been a nice little tweak after all the hate the Darklander spewed at us. Is that hate really fitting by the way? He used to be a warrior of light, you would think he would try to win us over.

Another note, having not played 1.0, the Darklander and pals should have recognized at least Thancred and Y'shtola right? Or do they suffer from the same mental block that the rest of Eorzia does for them.

Well, that depends. Is Darklander Derplander, or is he Dark!Derplander? After all, Derplander is the same person at Carteneau and in Ishgard, so logically the Derplander fighting Darklander is the original Derplander. But since he can't be both sides of a fight (not having studied under Fighter to learn how to be all 4 sides of a standoff), Derplander and Darklander must be different people.

Yet they were fighting ascians in that one cutscene, who put them on that path? And as noted in game, how could warriors of that power go unnoticed? Being the forgotten WoL would explain why no one knew them, at least one possible explanation. Although I'm sure we could come up with a bunch more.

The whole Dark/Derplander thing allows the story to be too muddled... . Seems odd that they could never have been one and the same.
