I'd rather have long queues than slow tanks. With long queues I can switch to play other game on other window, play my phone/Vita games, browse some social media, etc.
Don't people play for the challenge? I mean, what makes you feel more tanky than pulling an entire room and holding it to your command.

Not really. "I can hold the group hostage so we're doing things my way" is not a good point, or something that should be encouraged.Haha, this is such a good point. By the time you bicker with the current tank, kick, and then wait for your replacement - you more than likely would have already finished the dungeon in question.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm assuming most of the people demanding speed/perfect runs don't have a tank, or if they do, they can't be bothered to use it for roulettes. If you're so concerned about how the tank plays, level one yourself and queue as nothing else. Problem solved.
I have a tank. Mained a tank in WoW and swtor. Tired of tanking. Don't wanna do it any more. So now I just don't get a vote?
Said it before and I'll say it again: it's because of threads like this that we get so many primadonna tanks that everyone complains about. If your advice to tanks is to be a primadonna, then you can't really complain about all the primadonna tanks running around.
Lol I've been tanking for years as well, and if you aren't lying about your experience then you know full well that everything you described is tanking101. If it's a "serious mess" then you're doing something wrong.I've been tanking for years now and honestly, I hate people like Evangela or Fourbestintoner. You have no idea what a serious mess it is for a tank to get the aggro back from your pulls and the stress it is for a tank to reposition the mobs for you to avoid easily any AOE...

If they are new, sure, that's fine. But that guy doesn't appear to be new, and even if he is, I merely gave him the reality of Neverreap/Fractal. Everyone does these dungeons many many many times. At certain point, there's nto a single experienced soul that wants to do Neverreap slow paced by the time they've done it the 100th time.If you're queuing solo on EX Roulette, guess what? Chances are you're going to be paired up with fresh 60 players, first timers, laggers/dcers, drunks/stoners or people who just want to take it slow and easy; deal with it or make some friends who would be happy to do things your way.
Your self-entitlement to the perfect quartet of apocalypse is forfeit the moment you queue alone and uninsured.

Then again, I dont mind doing a speed run as long I'm fully aware of what kind of healer or DPS I'm teaming with. People like them think like they are all high and mighty because they do High lvl stuffs with their FC. They believe that people must just follow what they say but never considered what others feel. Whether the others agree or not, they dont care : they have to much ego to consider others... As for me, I dont trust a random group as long I havent tested them on a first batch of mobs. Then I decide if I speed up or not. You wanna pull ? sure ! tank it in the same time, I have no remorse to quit and queue up again, since people who respect others deserve my time and efforts.
Summoner's current abilities (Bane, Painflare, darkflare, Miasma II, and Deathflare) makes it very easy for them to deal with crowd rather efficiently. Any Summoners that know what to do can very easily handle massive pulls. Whenever I see a tank that slows very pull, I will usually say something like. "Just so you know, I am a summoner, and we are very good at killing lots of trash mobs at once. Feel free to pull more, it will make this go much faster."
Sure, DPS maybe a dime a dozen, but I've experienced far more tanks that acted like high and mighty divas, that leaves instantly when they're not satisfied with things.lol. Do you think FFXIV is your safe space? What gives you the right to think you're the leader? It's all the damage mitigation and healing ability you have, right? Sorry, but DPS is literally the worst class in the game. You're just gonna have to face this doggy dog world. For all intensive purposes DPS are a diamond dozen. I have zero taller ants when it comes to DPS being a bunch of pre-Madonnas when their class can literally do nothing other than push buttons with no care in the world. Playing a DPS is a peach of cake.
For example. Tanks be like...
Did someone just AFK'd? lol better leave.
Did we wipe because the whm couldn't keep me alive? lol better leave.
Not killing the boss fast enough? lol better leave.
Someone wearing low leveled gears? Wow what a noob, lol better leave.
The bottomline is, because tanks are very rare compared to healing and damage dealers, that most act very entitled than anyone else. "Don't like the way things work? Lol we're very rare, I'll just leave. 30 minutes penalty be damned."
We, damage dealers, are so tired of doing the same dungeons over, and over, and over, just for the sake of Tomestone of Esoterics, or whatever the current weekly capped tomestones are, that we just want to get it over with so we can move on to something else, that's possibly more fun. It's just that, Expert roulette is really the fastest way to get your weekly tomestones capped for the week. We're not being divas, we're not being madonnas, we just want to get things overwith because we're tired, and we're far more understanding if there's a presence of a newbie tank or even newbie healer, (which is fairly rare IMO), and in those cases, it'll be understanding and we'll be more than happy to help. At least that's my approach to things.
A good tank knows how much the party can handle, and pull trash mobs size based on that. Not pull based on the preference.I mean, after all, it IS About team work. Check who you got in the party, and if you feel confident, go all wild. It might actually be fun and fast.
After all, no one wants an hour-long Neverreap.

"Taking a group hostage" is a load of baloney. I personally have never seen a tank say "I am going to go as slow as possible, suck it!". If a tank pulls individual groups, it's adding maybe 10 minutes max to a run. Some people just aren't comfortable doing full pulls, and that's OK. Or perhaps they're new to tanking/dungeon/whatever.Not really. "I can hold the group hostage so we're doing things my way" is not a good point, or something that should be encouraged.

And no, I am not telling people to go out and become primadonnas, but if they are so bothered with how the general public plays a particular role, I am advising them to go out there and do it themselves. "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself" type of thinking. Of course people can have opinions, but simply moaning non-stop about it on forums and doing nothing about it is completely pointless. Being assholes to the people in game is also not productive.
+1.
Also, since I didn't initially main tank, my tank gear was behind compared to my FC mates on their main jobs, so if I did small pulls until I learned how much I could handle, or died because I pulled more than I could handle, they understood and were cool about it. Sometimes we even made a game of it; my scholar would pull mobs in Neverreap and run them back to me and we'd see whether I lived or not. It was the kind of thing you shouldn't do with randoms but can be fun with your FC.
Slow tanks annoy you because you can't waste time on multiple fronts? I'm sorry we inconvenience you so gravely...
