Things need to explain: Bunny Ears

Does it really balance when currently on Gold Saucer the NPC selling 2 "Bunny set for FEMALE" and 1 "Setzer set for UNISEX"?

Does it need to? Stop looking into the past and be happy that SE seems to be doing a 1:1 thing now. Would you be happier if we went several patches with a bunch of male-only gear and no female-only equivalent until we had equal amounts of both in order to make things "fair"?

It sounds like you and SE aren't even on the same page. SE seems to have taken "balance" to mean that from now on, if one gender gets a set, the opposite gender will get their own unique set too. You seem to be under the impression that they were going to allow both genders to wear whatever new sets were added (or go back and modify existing sets for both genders). I personally don't understand how you could have came up with the latter from the supplied quote.

Want some cheese with your whine, guys? This isn't an actual social issue and the glamour options are not nearly as weighted as some people here would like to suggest. Also, please learn to read. the posts says they'll consider the requests, and say they'll make more male gear "in the future", not "in 3.1, as soon as you desire oh merciful masters". So just relax. Though honestly the more of these whiny threads I see the more it seems to be less about glamour and more about men having just as much or more than women even in fiction and the opposite is just outrageous (apparently).

But... they're not? This patch adds one five-piece set (female-only) and two additional garments for each gender. That's seven new items for female characters versus two new items for male characters.

I appreciate that they have recently escalated our complaints and started listening, but the fact is that they made a statement back in April that balance would be looked at, acknowledged that locking inconsequential items like hats, shoes and wristbands was silly, and then continued favouring players with female characters months later in a future content patch anyway. Annoyance seems justified, especially from people who haven't been following the recent campaign to improve the way players with male characters are treated. I'm not that mad right now because I've been expecting this for a while.

In short:

- They still aren't doing a 1:1 thing now.
- The problems with the bunny costume were communicated to S-E back in April and again right after the Live Letter.
- We really, really should continue this discussion in the existing thread the reps are monitoring as it sends a much stronger message to have one thread with thousands of views than many threads with a small number each.

This really sucks, I dont see the big deal if male characters can wear bunny ears too.
I was thinking they would at least allow the new ears be for males too. Just disappointing.

Female characters get three female only new glamour sets this patch.

Just by reading the patch info there are 7 female only new gear and 2 male only new gear, without counting the Minfilia outfit (that i guess is a 5 set piece). If I'm not mistaking this will make female only glamour at a number near 40 gear piece. vs 2 for male. (and those 2 pieces have a female counterpart, so we can see it as no exclusive set?)

If we are being honest yes this is the first male only gear we had in a loooong time (+6months to make two pieces of gear oh yeah) but fo real though'

Not that I don't want to see Highlanders and Roegadyn in bunny suits, but the shoulderless top and bent ears have been something people have asked for since they saw the early promotional pictures for the set only to find one of the the two available instead of both. Wasn't a huge demand, mind, but it was considered a strange omission given they had characters wearing them side by side in the group shots.

Actually, I missed that, so fair enough. I saw ♀ and ♂ a few times while I was glossing over the items and didn't count the difference so I concede that part of the argument. I still don't see why it's such a big deal though or how anything SE said in the quote constitutes a promise on any level.

I can't speak for anyone else, but even though I play a female character I've never taken a liking to any of the female-only items besides the Oasis Tunic and the Yukatas (that have male-only equivalents anyway). I just don't understand why people are making such a huge deal over one gender having more vanity items than another, especially when the vast majority of the (in my opinion) best looking equipment in the game is already unisex. To each his own, but I've never been the type to care so much about what someone else has in comparison to myself so maybe that's where my disconnect is coming from.

Anyways, I guess it's as good an idea as any to move over to the larger topic.
