We're suffocating on inventory space - how much of a priority is it to fix it?

Not his actual words as that would be a PR disaster but that's literally the best we've got, it's always PS3/server limitations, the servers will explode if we give everyone free retainers, etc. I remember reading pre-Heavensward (or maybe it was a recent interview, I honestly can't recall) that the majority of players haven't even filled their first retainer's inventory, so it's likely not a high priority either.

when has inventory space(or lack thereof) EVER been associated with ps3? By an actual SE employee, not one of the mindless pc masterrace drones. Yes, ps3 has some negative effects to this game but seriously stop placing Every.single.problem on it. No, it's not PS3 holding inventory space back. It's Yoshi-P and his team. They would rather people buy extra retainers for 2.00/month than actually give us an extension to inventory. Don't try to color it any other way.

It's all relative. WoW starts you with 16 slots, and easily 108 slots without having to splurge gold. You're also comparing those 750 slots (which includes retainers. IE, banks) but do not include WoW's banking? That's extremely bias toward comparing inventory slots.

Errm... 750 slots on one character still beats WoW even with the banks. My point was how you'd have to go absolutely crazy with bag slots on WoW just to match the default storage on FFXIV.

Except... it's not. The retainers are not default storage. They're something you unlock IN GAME. Thats a whopping +350 storage slots from in-game play and no extra purchases.

Just because you don't count it, doesn't mean it doesn't count. Again, no one is disputing that there's a lot of things for us to hoard, but the fact is we're having these problems BECAUSE we hoard. It's not an issue with the actual game, nor is SE being even remotely stingy with the inventory space. If you're even halfway honest, most of the stuff we get we could easily discard or sell off, but we don't. We keep it 'just because'.

One of my retainers is stocked on old equipment alone, and most of it I just use for glamors. Do I need any of that stuff? Not really. Do I want it? Of course! I really don't understand how people can say we don't get much inventory space, when the reality is we just find new ways to stock up on junk!

Well, if you flat out refuse that PS3 is the reason for inventory limitations, I am gonna go ahead and flatly refuse that it's Yoshi-P and his team that's the cause; rather, I would suspect THEIR bosses of wanting to wring as much money from the players as possible.

Like I've said, show me an ounce of proof that THEY have ever placed blame on ps3. I've heard it was SERVER issues, DATA issues, never ps3. It's the way they coded things that's the problem, not the platforms the game is on.

Been playing this game since 2.0. I have 6 jobs past 50 and 4 of them at 60.

I have every raid and tome set excluding FCOB and Alex Savage for Dragoon.

Five sets of tank gear. Four sets of Ranged gear and two for Ninja.

I have sands and oils o time. Crafting mats. Food. Potions and random crap.

My inventory is only half full and I still have 1 empty retainer and 1/4 of a retainer inventory bailable. I don't see this as being a big problem for a lot of the community considering most throw away a lot of stuff.

Like I said, everything is relative, and you don't even have to go "absolutely crazy" as you say with bag slots. 750 slots (and they're not necessarily all effective slots since you're including armory) is a lot in WoW, but nessescarly so in FFXIV with how they handle their items and drops

Still confused how people have inventory space problems unless you just hoard every little crafting mat that can be bought for 10 gil.

I have a whole retainer that I don't use and all of my crafts are above 50 with 3 at 60.

I was under the impression that 3.0 will grant us additional retainer, I guess they went the lazy solution and under deliver in just about everything, not to mention a patch that is about 5 months late. I seriously hope this is just one time thing and we can all move past forward and the next patch will come by early March 2016.

I have been playing since, well April 2014. I have one job at 60, one over 50, one at 15, 5, 39, 38 and 17. All DoH at 50 or 51, DoL at 59, 59, and 51. Both Retainers full, MB full, about 7/8ths of my inventory full. So what you're saying is I should play like you? Sounds familiar.
