Five months late? HW released five months ago, are you seriously saying that 3.0 AND 3.1 should have been released together?I was under the impression that 3.0 will grant us additional retainer, I guess they went the lazy solution and under deliver in just about everything, not to mention a patch that is about 5 months late. I seriously hope this is just one time thing and we can all move past forward and the next patch will come by early March 2016.
Lol patch was 5 months late? Really do some math please and think about your statements before you hit the "post quick reply" buttonI was under the impression that 3.0 will grant us additional retainer, I guess they went the lazy solution and under deliver in just about everything, not to mention a patch that is about 5 months late. I seriously hope this is just one time thing and we can all move past forward and the next patch will come by early March 2016.
Life's a tease.

I was very short on space before Heavensward due to WAR, PLD, NIN, BRD, DRG, WHM, GOLD, MINE, and ALCH being Lv50. I have since eliminated WAR, DRG, and GOLD, so I NPC'd the gear as I have no intentions of playing those jobs currently. As for MINE and ALCH, they are at Lv50 with no immediate plans to level or retire them.
Depending on Patch 3.1, I may end up retiring WAR and BRD as well.

I'm not suffocating on inv space, stop hoarding every single piece of loot/crafting mat available, cause you know you wont ever glamour that one top you got in sastasha, npc it
personally inventory space is fine - what I think needs more space is the armory chest one more page for each piece of equipment would be fine and fishers need a bait box.
You don't NEED inventory expansions because you already start out with a ridiculous amount of space in this game. Yes, you can still fill it up easily, but this is where some regular spring cleaning comes into play. A lot of stuff people keep is either easily replaced, might have a "unique appearance" but is so ugly you'd never want to glamour it anyway, or sells in mass quantities on the market boards for 1 gil each anyway. What? I'm not gonna roll out a pedigree or whatever, but this is definitely not my first MMO. It is, however, the first MMO I've played where I have no way to increase my inventory in the game and that has introduced no inventory expansion with its expac (you usually get things like larger crafted bag sizes or whatever).
The *one* aspect of the inventory system that I feel could use more space is the section for rings in your armoury chest. With two ring slots there really should be two sections for rings. I level everything, and at various points in the leveling process, there have been times where I simply haven't been able to keep every ring that I use in my armoury chest.

They keep saying that cant do it.
Though they said same thing in FFXI also and look how much space was given, so I hardly believe they can't do it.
Though it is a different game and they are the experts so no clue.
Why are you so peeved about a small part of my post? But regardless, it's just what I've heard on Reddit, these forums, etc. If you want to sift through every live letter, every forum post, and whatever else be my guest. If the PS3 can't even manage a TP bar with numbers, I'm not going to believe it can manage more inventory either.when has inventory space(or lack thereof) EVER been associated with ps3? By an actual SE employee, not one of the mindless pc masterrace drones. Yes, ps3 has some negative effects to this game but seriously stop placing Every.single.problem on it. No, it's not PS3 holding inventory space back. It's Yoshi-P and his team. They would rather people buy extra retainers for 2.00/month than actually give us an extension to inventory. Don't try to color it any other way.
I read that the rent a retainer service was added a day after the glamour system was added... cough conspiracy cough
That 15 second backup timer is flat out absurd, no other MMO does it. I'm starting to believe it's nothing more than a lie, if Yoshida was a sane man he'd realize that 15 seconds is far too much to backup data.
All I gotta say is that out of my main's void storage and bank, 6 of the 7 bags in her bank have gear, much of it holiday crap. Her void storage has 2 slots open in it....
And that's just my main. The main bank part is currently holding stuff I'm stashing for expansion for an alt I'm making... but other than that, if it's not soulbound, it's not on her.
The new transmog changes can't come fast enough.
Here? I just.. don't hold on to stuff. I can't afford to.
The reason it works there is that you have one class on one character.
Here, I have 12 jobs, each has a set of gear, and each has unique stuff I use for glamour, some of which is job specific...
it adds up and is even worse.

It was more of an oversimplification than a misconception. I went more into detail in my next post in the thread on page 7.That's a bit of a misconception - in WoW you start out with extremely limited inventory space (16 bag slots, and another 28 at your bank), and the biggest bags right now will run you around 1000 gold each to buy (30 slots, need 11 total between your inventory bag slots and your bank...so 11,000 gold)...
And the net result, with the reagent bank and void storage...is around 550 inventory slots. Some of those, like void storage, you have to pay to put things in, every time you put something in.
FFXIV from the start gives you 100 inventory slots plus 300 (that's 12x25 for all but the Job Crystal set) total in the Armory Chest...and another 75 slots just for quest items even though we never, ever have that many quest items.
Throw in the retainers you get at level 17 at no extra charge, and you're sitting at around 200 inventory slots more on a single character without spending any micro-sub than is achievable on a single character in WoW, even with the most expensive bags.
Inventory management is certainly less of a hassle in that game (and about to become even more user friendly with some of their upcoming changes), but getting bigger bags and the bank + void storage are actually worse than what we get in terms of inventory slots.
My point was that, while WoW's base inventory space is extremely limited, Blizzard offered a way to add more (permanent) space in game that does not require any additional cash to be spent on top of the sub. They have added bigger bags, added new storage systems (void storage/reagent bank), consolidated items, increased stack sizes, removed unnecessary inventory clutter (arrows, reagents, etc.), and are now adding yet another system to reduce the amount of stuff you need to hold on to (if you want it for whatever reason) with those upcoming changes. I believe that whether those solutions and systems are better or worse than what we have here is largely subjective. Either way, they are actively working to fix the problem.
This game does not. You have to effectively increase your own sub cost to get more space. There are no other solutions - or no concrete news of them being implemented, at any rate (unless I've missed something). That's what I don't like.
