While it is annoying and disrespectful when DDs and healers pulls ahead of the tank, it's also frustrating when the tank pulls only like 3 or less mobs specially when there are AOE DDs (BLM/SMN) in the group. It can be overlooked if the tank is new or undergeared but if not and he's doing it just because he wants to (despite being able to "tank ways more than the average") then he's the one who's being disrespectful to the others.

In the OP's case tho, that healer sucks for pulling ahead without even saying anything at all.

In none of my post did I said I forced someone to do as I say/want. You imply that if I give my opinion on something it is absolute and I am surely making it clear each time I do a dungeon.

There's more to it for tanks than "what I feel I can handle". For instance, you may or may not trust your DF dps to burn through the pack before your healer runs out of mp and you run out of CDs and tp (and that both the healer and tank can be ready to pick the next pack without having to wait for stuff to fill up, which is not faster anyway). There's also how the tank feels about running the content. Tanks and healers can get really burned because they not only have to deal with some bad attitudes in groups, also the strain of keeping the group alive falls into them. There's all kind of situations happening on DF that will make you want to pull your hair off, go take a look. That combined with running the same dungeon for the 682736458723465438th time may make it a pain and different people will handle it in different ways, some may want to be done as fast as possible and others may want to take it in small doses. And there's also the chance that the tank had some bad experiences in the past with some DF groups at a particular dungeon or pull and doesn't want to take chances anymore.

And like others have said, you want to keep being pushy on tanks? Ok, fair enough, but then don't go crying when you're on a 47 minute queue or longer as dps.

Neither big nor small pulls are more intended than the other. One is the way you prefer, one is the way others prefer. If it's 3 to 1 against you, then deal with it.

Yeah it's annoying when people pull instead of ask, but they've made what they want pretty clear. Immaturity is not a good way to answer immaturity.

Maybe, but will you have enough for completing the next pull too? Also that's assuming your 2 dps are dealing enough damage and the pull doesn't take longer than it should.

That's true, but

1) I don't consider asking to go faster than originally intended in the dungeon's design to be straight out "valid criticism". It falls under some weird grey area where people can normally handle with no problem but that's still not how it was conceived in the first place.

2) You have the wrong idea of what's "holding a group hostage". Standing still while refusing to progress as a way of revenge or trolling or because they went for a smoke or because they had to attend to IRL stuff for a long time is holding the group hostage. Progressing at normal pace but not as fast as expected in the current "meta" is not.

3) 100% agreed, you should treat all people respectfuly all the same and not by role, I'm just saying that poorly treating a role that is scarce and needed is particularly stupid, especially if the reason for your bashing is not "you're messing up" but "I consider you're not being optimal".

My rule of thumb as a tank: If someone pulls "for" me once, I will ask them not to pull for me.

If it happens again or that person gets uppity, I will drop tank stance and just dps- thereby letting them tank since they want to tank so badly.
If people get nasty about it two things will happen.
1. I will try to reason with them (and I mean reason. You must never get into it with these people)
2. If I cannot reason with them I will either Return > Manual exit or just Menu > Leave Dungeon. As a tank I could care less about the 30min lockout timer, I get instaqueues ^.~
2.5. Once I am out of the dungeon I will summarily report those people for harassment.

If you just want to do as much as the content designed for you to do, you're not a good player. Why don't try to do more than the standard? It's like someone who always aim to pass the exams with the minimum score. sure, you can pass but which company is going to hire someone like that after they graduated with the minimum requirement? same thing, why should the majority of players want to play with a player like that?
