I'm not sure if you misunderstood, or I'm misunderstanding this question. But I'm uncomfortable with this person because of the bullying I endured from them. I'm not simply uncomfortable with the name itself. I see my tormentor all around, even though I blisted them. Blist only solves some of the issues. If this person continually harassed me I suppose I'd have something else to use, I could GM them away. But I guess fortunately they haven't went any farther. But every sense I had to go through all of that, now every time I see them I'm reminded of what they did, and it causes me undue stress.

Have you ever been bullied yourself.....
For every action there is a reaction and that is the most important part of anything that happens in life you can CHOOSE whether to make yourself miserable over it or not.

I've been bullied from the time the earliest I can remember from things as simple as my race (mexican) living in the US constantly being seen as a second class citizen to fam members harassing me for being the "poor" ones in the fam since my dad wasn't around and we didnt have a full fridge but at the same time I also had people around who taught me that I wont gain anything from moping around victimizing myself that isnt an excuse, you know what I did? Decided to shit on everyone back whoever shit on me by being successful and not letting them see me down.

Think of it this way what advice would you give yourself if someone came to you with your same scenario

@Drako: I don't condone bullying. I was picked on and bullied in school some as well. I had a lazy left eye and wore glasses from age 3. The glasses caused my ears to stick out and many times I would go home with blood red ears from people thumping them. Around age 5 I started having to wear a patch as well on my good right eye to help correct the lazy left eye. I got jeered a lot. Its all in how we handle conflict. Certain personality types handle conflict better than others. I am one that does not internalize it, and will rise above it. You have a more fragile personality type. Nothing wrong with that. Seems bullying has taken a tole on your life, and I would suggest speaking to a counselor about how to better handle negativity. Sounds like you let it play far too big a part in your life, and by doing so you only give a perpetrator more power over you. BUT- we are talking about an online video game; where a click of a mouse can silence even the most vile of bullies, so start clicking. If he is blacklisted there is nothing he can say to you. If that isn't enough, then perhaps multiplayer games isn't a great genre for you. Trolls and morons will always exist, you have to man up and just deal with it. If you cant get past a 3d character in a video game, then real life is going to chew you up and spit you out. My point is that you cant always run for help in a given situation and expect people to go out of their way to take the bumps out of life for you. At some point you have to realize that you need to take control of your own life and happiness and learn to deal with things, at least trivial issues like this. Ive had people wish death on me in video games, among countless other silly attacks. This is just how these people behave. They will have to answer to that one day, but you can at least choose to stop letting them have so much control over your life. Ignore them and move on. Not everyone is going to like you. Realize that, accept it, and learn to be ok with it.

If you cant see the difference between historical moments, and people being outraged that Target has a boys toy section and a girls toy section, then you are a bit blind.

I think some of you might be overreacting a bit. Blacklist stops all communication and a number of other things, making it very difficult for a blacklisted person to bully anyone. And if they're abusing emote motions, call a GM and be done with it.

But if you just can't stand to see a virtual character standing nearby... maybe multiplayer games are not for you.

That moment when the only troll in the thread is the one who's randomly calling people trolls, unless you'd to explain who's trolling?

Just because someone has a different perspective on a given issue than you doesn't make them a troll.

I could say the same about the similarities. Humanity has never had a very good sense of scale. And scale, in this case meaning severity or level of importance, is the only difference between these historical moments and modern petty outrages.

What's changed in the past few decades isn't the people. People were always self-righteous. There were always people who would get upset if a coin happened to land on tails, or something equally frivolous. The majority always wanted things to bend their way. None of this is new or different from previous generations since as far back as recorded history goes.

What has changed is technology. Information technology. Medical technology. Hell, even agricultural technology. More people hear about every small thing that happens across the world almost instantaneously thanks to television, the internet, phones, etc. After all, the information age of technology is now. Medical and Agricultural technology means we're living healthier, safer, and longer lives, with plentiful food for many. We worry less about our next meal and die less to lethal diseases/infections now than ever before. This frees up all that time, which we'd otherwise spend planning and preparing to survive, to do other things.

Mix an abundance of free time with virtually instantaneous information transfer and constant information flow to and from around the world, then throw in some human nature (which hasn't adapted to recent technologies, yet), and you get a recipe for petty squabbles.

"Millennials" are not the problem. In an ironic twist of fate, the very argument that "millennials" are the problem is actually a frivolous, petty squabble resulting from the above.

(I had more to say, and could have fleshed it all out more thoroughly, but I decided I didn't want to write a book about something largely off topic.)

On topic. Would it be nice for blacklisted players to be removed from your gameplay entirely? Sure. You blacklisted them because you didn't want to deal with them. Of course it would. But it's not realistic.

It could be done. It could even be done well. It's possible.

But the programming implications... Nope. It's just not going to happen.

I, for one, was bullied a hell of a lot as a kid. I was the really big, pacifistic guy; which made me the best bullying target because I seemed big and strong but wouldn't retaliate. I was the guy bullied, physically and otherwise, in every year of my primary education, in and out of school.

I can still easily ignore people on the internet. It doesn't get to me.

Being bullied does stick to you, but you can control how it influences you.
