    On topic if they decrease our dps to the point where I can no longer carry slow ass runs due to bad dps cause my tank dps can no longer do double/triple the bad dps then I'm going to either quit tanking or the game altogether.

    I know this means nothing to a lot of people but this upcoming change doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth and I can only hope if it is negative to our tank dps that other players take a stand as well

    If anything str stacking was a sign of a good tank because we couldnt slack, we had to learn how to rotate our cooldowns to maximize survivability and optimize our rotation to pump out dps, I fail to see where the hate comes to str built tanks, even speaking on personal expriences DFing content, those who played it safe full vit built were worst players overall not only was the run slow but they rarely use any CDs and cant hold aggro to save their lives

The gear doesn't matter, if someone couldn't hold hate in Vit gear there's no guarantee they could hold hate in str gear either. I'm all for str and highly prefer str, because DPS feels like a big contribution. However I've seen far more "bad" str tanks that , can't hold hate, can't rotate CD's and wind up dying, have bad attitudes, one or a mix of these things. I haven't run across a lot of vit tanks that couldn't keep hate in general, except against really good DPS or when outgeared.

    sorry if already discussed but this is a long thread now.

    the current 150 set melded is still worth it for sure but the 180 or above set probs wouldn't be due to limitations on grade 5 materia. yes they would probs still edge out but at such a cost to not really be worth it so we would be forced to use slaying only right side to gain the desired stats.

    so SE changing the materia allowances seems kind of pointless because we just wont be able to meld enough stat points to make it worthwhile anyways.

    as for changing tank dps, seems a little premature to assume the worst. especially since tank dps is very much needed to clear savage at current gear levels for most groups. so if they do adjustments that make str less desirable for tanks so we use fending and gain more hp it might not be a bad thing, we could very well be pushing the same numbers with higher hp which only helps everyone out.

    another thing is if the design team don't take healer and tank dps into account when designing encounters then they must of meant for savage to be done in higher than current 190-210 gear for the majority of the raiders out there. so this shows that tank dps and healer dps is kinda op from their perspective and so needs an adjustment.

    everyone voicing their concerns is all well and good but fear mongering is just not needed.

    Just adding a bit more information about the statement published on the Live Letter XXV Digest:

    "Matera-wise that is all we will be doing; however, we will also be adjusting the damage calculations for tank roles in Patch 3.2. The details have not been finalized just yet, so I’m not able to discuss the adjustments in detail right now, but I believe those of you who are tanks and raiding at the moment can roughly imagine what we will be doing. We’ll be bringing tank’s damage calculations up to a more appropriate state, and this includes the issues with enmity."

    Can you imagine what they are doing? I cant (and im wiping like hell in A3S at the moment) T^T

    EDIT:

    "We determined that existing equipment will not be a problem once we implement the changes in Patch 3.2."

    This might be a good hint...

    Thinking a bit about it, I believe the only way they can:

    1) Solve the enmity problem;

    2) Make the current melded access not relevant anymore;

    Would do tanks damage increases based on VIT and not STR. Thus, everybody would drop melded VIT / STR acc and you always generate maximum enimty possible even using Full VIT.

    This means that they will not reduce the contribution of the tanks in the raid DPS and its good, but boss will hit harder to compensate.

    This is my conclusion on the matter for now, and however the game becomes more linear for tanks, is a good solution to the problem IMO.

    If dps is nerfed on tanks get ready for longer q times. As a tank in this game you have to rely on your healer to stay alive now watch as you do little to no damage. And probably now longer story finish time due to lack of dps. Hmmm thanks for making tanks boring again.

    You are optimistically assuming that they will use the same or a similar damage multiplicator for VIT as for STR. They might as well use a lower one to prevent tanks from becoming "Better DPS" and just increase bonus enmity on skills across the board to compensate.
