What they mean by "change the damage calculations of tanks"?

Str specing your tank or vit specing it has ZERO to do with your in-combat skill and ability to maximize your dps rotationally and mechanically, so no matter what they do with gear or behind-the-scenes damage calculations, maximizing your performance as a player with your job isn't going anywhere. If anything this will balance the playing field and show who is actually playing their job right.

Essentially what people are scared of amounts to seeing smaller numbers on the screen, nothing more. As long as you are maximizing your performance it doesn't matter as long as encounters are scaled to whatever tank dps winds up being (honestly probably not much lower than it is now, if at all). Players that are bad that rely on str gear to pump out decent numbers will be a thing of the past at least.

Partially agree. Secondary stats are not extremely prevalent yet in the raid cycle which is one of the reasons STR stacking and double melding is so attractive. Once there is enough skill speed in the game that WAR can 10 hit berserk, then gearing has lots to do with maximizing your performance. Its not like gearing choices are irrelevant and i doubt that's what you were trying to convey. But honestly all of the bad STR Tanks are just trying to maximize their performance in a lackluster patch that doesnt have a lot of good options. They just probably suck at it.

Im hoping they give us better options so we dont have to rely on abusing mechanics to gear well.

I see what you're saying, but war is kind of a special case there as neither of the other tanks really have that kind of a quota to hit, and dps secondaries are still present on tank gear.

Lol what, so now the full vit "I'm a man of the sword and board and I tank not DPS" RPing care bears are justifying their full vit garbage builds by calling STR built viking juggernauts "bad"?

On topic if they decrease our dps to the point where I can no longer carry slow ass runs due to bad dps cause my tank dps can no longer do double/triple the bad dps then I'm going to either quit tanking or the game altogether.

I know this means nothing to a lot of people but this upcoming change doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth and I can only hope if it is negative to our tank dps that other players take a stand as well

If anything str stacking was a sign of a good tank because we couldnt slack, we had to learn how to rotate our cooldowns to maximize survivability and optimize our rotation to pump out dps, I fail to see where the hate comes to str built tanks, even speaking on personal expriences DFing content, those who played it safe full vit built were worst players overall not only was the run slow but they rarely use any CDs and cant hold aggro to save their lives

Actually gearing choices have never really shown who is the better tank. I've seen good vit tanks, bad vit tanks, good str tanks, bad str tanks. The gear doesn't matter, if someone couldn't hold hate in Vit gear there's no guarantee they could hold hate in str gear either. I'm all for str and highly prefer str, because DPS feels like a big contribution. However I've seen far more "bad" str tanks that , can't hold hate, can't rotate CD's and wind up dying, have bad attitudes, one or a mix of these things. I haven't run across a lot of vit tanks that couldn't keep hate in general, except against really good DPS or when outgeared.
