Exploration? Huh? At the very best you get to 'explore' once. And even then if you're raiding you are expected to know the mechanics before your first run through so...Here's the reason: Its because the current "raids" don't feel like we are raiding anything. We have this big colossus called Alexander, and Savage squanders the opportunity for more exploration and just flat out drops you off in front of the boss arena. In the case of Savage Fist of the Father, Faust then the actual boss. No trash, no exploration, nothing.
Its a glorified trial masquerading as a raid.
Savage Raids in FFXIV are A1S + A2S + A3S + A4S; A1S is the first mini-boss + boss, A2S the trash mob party, A3S the pre-final boss and then A4S the final boss.
Don't see why we need trash mobs since we already get them.
In Hullbreaker Isle are 2 trash mobs you can avoid by walking (in the cave before the 2nd boss)
Traps would be a useless waste of development time, everyone would figure it out after the first time and never step into them again. But wait, then there's that one i200 player that has seemingly run the dungeon several dozen times but triggers the trap anyway and is flamed by everyone else in the party, like opening the chest in World of Darkness. Fun fun.
You dont play much games, do you?Traps would be a useless waste of development time, everyone would figure it out after the first time and never step into them again. "Hey Team... we need to leave so everybody can repair. At least we get to come back and clear the trash again!!!" - said NO raid team ever.
I don't know how you came to that conclusion, but whatever.
I do play a lot, and traps work fine in games that don't have you running the content endless amounts of times. Dark Souls for example, one of the few games I've beat more than once and I know which chests to avoid without being eaten, what monsters not to engage unless I want to put effort into beating them at a low level, etc. Most games aren't designed to have the run the same level 50+ times, the ones that are, are randomized. Binding of Isaac, Diablo 3 or whatever else.
Weighing in; T1 for most progress groups about 2 months in, everytime the group voted me to suicide pull all the trash(2 pulls irc) to get to Caduceus, then everyone skipped T3 bc well, it's just trash leading to T4. The people have spoken. The trial like "Raid" is here to stay unless trash begin dropping good items/mats.
Exactly. Remember Amdapor Keep in 2.0 and trash pulls to the boss? How about Castrum? Every time you can skip trash mobs, people do.Weighing in; T1 for most progress groups about 2 months in, everytime the group voted me to suicide pull all the trash(2 pulls irc) to get to Caduceus, then everyone skipped T3 bc well, it's just trash leading to T4.
