There's someone on the Aether data center who role plays as an ice mage and refuses to use anything but blizzard. I've also seen BLMs who refuse to use fire because "ice gives me infinite mp." Sometimes it's not about whether or not someone is willing to learn. Certain people want to play their way and damn the consequences.

The sheer amount of cold from Ice Mages freezes aether in the air which stops my healing, esuna's and raises from working on them. Also an unexplained phenomena happens to my body whenever I stand on top of an Ice Mages corpse, for some reason I am compelled to do the Manderville.

I feel like I should have added a disclaimer to my comments here. I am not trying to excuse all playstyles, and my comments have been made with the assumption that people are generally giving a decent try at their jobs and mostly with DF in mind.

I would say that anyone who expects to to do a particular fight in a particular way (ice mage, elite only, bikini runs, whatever) really should use PF. Once you get into DF, all bets are off, and you should try to make the best of what you get. If the group truly is awful, boot as necessary or leave the run.

People brainstorm rotations, calculate formulae, code/re purpose programs and addons, debate, and collaborate to find the best and/or most efficient way to play their classes.

There's a reason that there is a "meta". If you're going to be hard-headed and respond with "but this is how I play" and waste other people's time, just uninstall FFXIV.

I'm looking at you undergeared, DPS stanced tanks who think they can hold aggro using taunt, Ice Mages, and 1000 DPS/second BRDs.

as much as i want to agree with this, i cannot, for two reasons

1: casual gamers (especially ones that dont understand the meta concept) out number hardcore gamers, and SE wouldnt do away with that. best you can do is avoid them by creating your own PF groups and stay out of DF. they pay to play this game too, no need to be an ass to them (but yes, they do need to get better)
2: i am a very good gamer, and i learn just by reading the skills, i never watch guides or listen to people and their rotations. i may never be the best at that job, but i can hold my own for a person who wings everything i do. this game isnt hard, its filled with idiots that want everything written for them (which i STRONGLY oppose)

Strength Tanks make me sad.

you can blame SE for that, being that enmity for tanks is mainly generated through strength, more strength = more enmity. also the dps checks on some content and groups wanting tanks to put out as much damage as possible. and guessing since you said that, you are either a healer that isnt familiar with tanking or a tank that doesnt know about how damage/enmity is calculated for tanks(if its the latter, you shouldnt post on this thread again or complain about others)

I smell another thread for people who like to whine and complain that something isn't going their way, well if its so bad then why don't you learn how to adapt to the situation, if someone is doing that bad kick them from the party back out and look for someone else and keep doing that until you have the right people for the job. Not hard, takes time yes but I'd think a little bit more time spent looking for better players would meet everyone's satisfaction.
