though for reals how many times is this thread gonna be made and title changed, I know I don't have to read it, though I am going to disagree with it, its my opinion versus theirs, no hate behind it, they might hate me for disagreeing but that's okay.

I think I need to take a break from the forums, I don't want to say something that is bad that might get me in trouble so time for a break.

    Begins kicking rocks.

Basically the problem with the gear is the fact that it's mostly all unisex and the problem with this games unisex gear is that they look good on female bodies. Not on males imo. Most of all of the magic gear is completely feminine but could be worn on males. Eso AST Dres-...er I mean Coat* anyone? Eso WHM coat that was admitted by developers to be made off of a female character's coat in FF1 anyone? Orthodox magic chest piece anyone? *begins to sweat*. Eso Monk chest piece? Oh heavens. Eso Summoner chest piece? Starlight Gear?(Ok the Devs really trashed males with this)

Is this okay? I can look tough with this?

This was the only pic of Orthodox gear I could find that was big and clear. Sadly, I couldn't find a pic of a male in it. Gee I wonder why?

Tell me this is totally fine.

    Ok to be unisex?

    Need more pics?

Because it keeps being an issue that isn't addressed.

Not sure if OP means actual male-only locked gear or really just more masculine pieces as opposed to unisex- and feminine-looking, but in regards to the issue with the previous one...

Why are people arguing against the other thread (players with male characters deserve as many glamours as those with female characters)? The vague wording of this request is a problem and people are struggling to connect with it in order to share their opinions. An arbitrary sense of 'masculinity' is essentially meaningless when you're talking to people from every country on the planet. We have radically different ideas of what the masculinity you're searching for is and some of us are already well catered for by what the game provides. Please be more specific.

There are some really nice pieces in game already which (I think) fulfil the requirements of being masculine (according to my cultural background) and fantasy-appropriate; my favourite is probably the Kirimu Coat though I also really love the Maelstrom caster hunt reward coat. I certainly wouldn't object to more glamour items being designed for both genders according to that aesthetic. I'm less interested in mundane items which would make me feel like I'm fresh out of Sastasha.

Other specific looks I'd like to see would be a top inspired by a gakuran (or Sun Yat-sen suit), something smart and clean which would look nice on both genders. Some more samurai-style clothes would be nice as well - quite a few people have paired the yukata with long skirts and they look great if you have the right combination of colours.

this. A part from the battle mage set and a few other exceptions (CT sets, Allagan Sets), every casters' armor is designed for female characters: male scholars, blackmages, summoners, white mages and astrologians haven't got many options and it is getting a bit frustrating (like the halloween gear: what about with those ribbons on men's boots and gloves???)

Yep most of those "unisex" designs complement female bodies and not males. They look ridiculous on males in my opinion. Kirimu coat is one of the sexiest "unisex" design which look really hot on both genders but that was an exception. The rule is that most design are fitting better on female bodies.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the basic design of the Orison, Welkin or Evenstar sets, it's just they hang weirdly (especially around the chest and shoulders) on most guy models. Focusing on the WHM version the regular WHM AF1 looks excellent on my lanky elezen character. I really like it. The Orison robe, however, just isn't cut quite right and gives an unbalanced feel when you have wider shoulders and no breasts (I'm ignoring the hood as it looks awful on everyone equally). I'm not sure how to fix it so it hangs more appealingly on a male but the core idea of a fancy white/red robe isn't inherently 'feminine' when it's done well.

The AST robe has a similar problem; most of it looks good to me except the tight fabric really highlights how flat and uh, featureless my character's torso is whereas on a female body it looks dainty and elegant. I'd prefer for there to be more going on in the top half for the male version to compensate. And I loved the aesthetics of the Evenstar set aside from the top piece which looks sort of thrown-together; the spikes don't compensate for the loss of the skirt and cheeky torso design. I don't really want a direct port of the ladies' version since the slashed cleavage window would be a disappointment, but something a little more dapper wouldn't have hurt.

I don't think these are so much overly 'feminine' as just plain awkward designs which don't have the same impact when worn by burlier characters. Hmm, it's a little like real life fashion being designed for petite people.

a real masculine look to me is less of a style and more of a lack of a style. a masculine look is when function dictates form. the clothes you wear are dictated wholly by the actions you intend to take. you aren't to look pretty, you are here to get shit done.
So you're associating masculine and poor/working class/can't afford fashion and make it a point of pride to not be able to afford fashion. Somehow.

The epitome of masculinity: the homeless. /sarcasm

Not everyone thinks maleness is favoring function over form up to ideally neglecting form entirely. It just sounds polarizing for polarization's sake (Women are aesthetic, therefore masculinity is being NON-aesthetic. Contrarian identity?)

Edit: What's funny is in real life, I feel a sense of pride of not feeling forced by peer pressure to adopt fashion, a certain style, a brand name, and to be mostly practical (I don't wear stilettos, rarely any make-up, and wear sneakers/running shoes 99% of the time). But I don't define my identity around it, and I sometimes feel expressive and dress-up. If dressing up was more instantaneous and not damaging to my hair, I would do it more often. I just can't be bothered much of the time (got other priorities). I still like pretty stuff on simple clothing, and I don't think girls should have a monopoly on decorations.
