the time to be looking is now...I have found 3 houses in 60 days - one in each of the 3 locations. Lucky? sure, but it is not as rare as you may think and will become very common once we pass that initial 45 day mark. I'm also not exactly on a dead server, either. The personal house reclamation should be 65 - 75 days. This is kind of a kick in the face especially when they are doing 5 months between content updates. They've essentially alienated anyone who cannot be constantly subscribed from the entire housing experience in a half hearted effort to fix something that is still completely broken. The bottom line is that 99% of the people in this thread without a house, still won't have one after reclamation due to the insane demand.
Oh you wanted a house?
Well so do another 3,000 people on your server. Look one just opened up!
Your chance of getting it is about the same or less than winning the jumbo cactpot. Good luck!

In other news I am officially starting a property holding business in Eorzea. Anyone one wishing to take a break from FF can hire my alts to make sure your house stays safe and secure during your absence. 500k gil per 45 days absence. Will be offering premium services such as garden maintenance, and chocobo training. No money? No worries! Full Payment isn't due until your return and installments will be accepted.
Don't lose your house, act now!

If they are paying for a sub why do they need to log in? I'm not quite sure I understand this rational. I doubt very many would be paying a sub fee if they didn't plan on using the game in order to maintain personal housing.
I was making a response directly to another person, not in general read the quoted text it has the context there.

Not if it is another account it's not. Account sharing is definitely against TOS. Free company ownership transfers, alt muling houses, and sharing ownership/access (no yet implemented) are all within the TOS guidelines.
The business thing I posted was sarcasm obviously but this is exactly what you are going to see happen with the reclamation change. People will find a way to subvert the system as they do with every game. This one certainly is no exception.

They need to just make housing instanced so we don't have this issue.
Yeah it looks nice to have neighbors or whatever and make it look lively, but all sorts of issues can come up knocking you out for 45 days. Military deployment, extended medical stays, financial loss. I got stuck in a hospital bed for 38 days with a collapsed lung, a three surgeries before I was cleared to leave. Even after that I could hardly even sit up without being drugged out of my mind.
There is no point to have housing in limited quantity, it made sense on a game like Archeage where housing provided a means to an end, materials to craft castles/trade packages/warships. But it offers no advantage in 14, they should just make it an instanced zone, everyone can get a house much like how WildStar handles it.
Another issue that comes up especially with something like this new EU server move. What happens to our houses/FC house if we need to transfer? We have to ditch it AND lose all the gil due to transfer restrictions on currency in place. If they instance the housing the issue goes away. The house is on its own instance and could be accessed from whatever server you find yourself on.
Also Lexia stop white knighting this shit development decision, you shouldn't HAVE to rely on someone else in your family or friend to log onto your game for you while you are crippled or being shot at to avoid losing shit in a game you are currently paying for all because you couldn't get signed in. Its stupid, stop wasting the budget designing content you make obsolete in 3 months (or worse obsolete on launch like Bismarck EX), spend it on the hardware and move the housing to an instance.
Does anyone remember the tales of how player housing would be completely different from FC housing? I do, and we got a lazy implementation yet again. They had the chance to develop and actual fix to the housing issue and instead opted to keep it as a limited resource and just start yanking houses from people potentially because they were UNABLE to sign on. Not because they did not want to. It's like with every patch they actively avoid a logical fix to the issue at hand and decide to go with some half thought out band-aid fix that'll shut people up for a patch or two.

You know this is a breathe of fresh air that has been needed for the housing for a long time. Though there is another problem that should be fixed with the housing:
There are people I know that are just greedy with the housing. I have a friend who has a total of 2 alts plus his main on our server. Each of them own their own house. On top of the house he owns through having his own fc. Why so many? Gardening. However, he has not been on those alts in a long time. Those are at least 2 plots he is keeping for himself that other people who want, can't have. This is something that really makes me sick. It is underhanded and yes greedy.
If they could make it where you can only buy one personal house per account per server. Or hell even allow you to share your personal house with your alts. I think that would also relieve some of the problems that the housing system has.
