WHM needs more instant heals

I wouldn't call Asylum and Regen instant heals. They have no cast time, true, but they don't restore HP instantly: You have to wait until the next tick.

Well, that is your right to view them as such. I view them as instant, as they do have no cast time and, ya know, actually provide healing.

Even so, not counting them, WHM still has Tetra, Bene and Assize. AST has Aspected Benefic and Essential Dignity. Please don't kid yourself into thinking WHM is lacking in any way.

As it has been pointed out already if you know what's going to happen (like that dragoon standing in tonz swing), you can precast cure / stoneskin. I think we don't need more instant cast abilities (not to mention that my skillbar is pretty much already stuffed enough)

Mouse click Cure II when you really want to save that Tetra or cast free Cure II - which is not that often.

Yeah it's just semantics we are getting into here. Asylum and Regen are instant skills, sure they require a tick to heal if we want to get that deep.

Seems like the OP is just running into a bad tank situation (cooldowns, bad gear, etc) or something that is making them blow both their WHM instants and needing constant Cure IIs, which in itself is a problem because that is also a ticket to running out MP. Even a SCH would be out of Aetherflow stacks in a situation like that burning Lustrates, AST would be out of MP if they had to use ED and spam Aspected Benefic/Benefic II. So the issue isn't the job, more like the situation.

No, they do not provide healing. They instantly provide a buff. This buff then provides healing, but may take as long as 3 seconds before it does.

Let's not kid ourselves. They're in no way comparable to assize, tetra, bene, lustrate, AB, etc.

If you read my first post, you would know that I do not think WHM needs more instant heals. I think WHM is in a pretty good spot right now, so there was no point in quoting your other point (ie we are in agreement).

You shouldn't need to rely on instacast to heal with WHM. If so, you, or your tank, are doing something wrong.

The healers are very similar to each other already but all three have a niche that makes them shine with something. WHM has HoTs, big heals and some burts damage but even so we have Tetra, Assize, Benediction and swiftest too. Our toolkit is good, more of the others would risk to make us OP.

You can't really count Swiftcast. It invokes the GCD, and the animation associated with it adds another delay.

Matter of instant heal, the job that should complain the most is astrologian, since Aspected benefic is gcd, light speed doesn't remove gcd, benefic II proc is still in gcd. The only real emergency heal from astrologian is essential dignity. The skill description/mechanic suggests to use it like an emergency skill for more efficiency anyway.

Instant heal is nice but it's better without gcd.

Also, counting 50% health as emergency means either your tank is wearing cheese, if the next hit can potentially kill them, or you are under estimating them.
