Its just another extremly massive grindfest. <.<
I dont "play"(grind) 1000hours for just 1 weapon.

I think we will need a 1 or 2 star crafted green lv60 weapon with 2 or 3 IV materias in it.
I doubt that the upgrade items will be in the new 24 man raid at the start.
If the devs do it like with CT then the upgrade items for the gear will be in 3.15 and for the weapons in 3.16

How can anyone NOT have their AF2 weapon yet? O.o
Even casuals have had more than sufficient time. I'm not sure why this question even exists.
I guess they're asking if they should save their Esoterics for something else? In which case, you should be close to fully geared in Esoterics when 3.1 hits regardless, with a weapon.

It's only grindy when the steps add up. When you're playing as they are released, every relic step can be done in under a week of casual play.

Some folks don't focus on one class for Esoterics, too. Or they might have leveled more slowly and have only recently hit 60. Others prioritize glamour items or lowest item level stuff, or they might get things that they can use on more than one class first. A lot of people also don't realize how significant Weapon Damage is compared to all other stats, and so might not realize that the weapon is a larger upgrade than say, body or legs.

some questions should be: what will the initial iLv of that weapon be? and how easily repeatable will be the quest to require one?
if you get a 200 weapon for something that can be done over and over again like the first relic quest in 2.0 then a lot of eso were "wasted"...
if we already start with some heavy grind and a 210 weapon (or even just 200) then eso weapons are still a good choice.
also if SE keeps it like this for the next set of tomestones (making weapons easily available) it's questionable if the new relic is even worth the time investment

I'm sorry, but what? Some of the original steps in the relic upon release were FAR from a week's worth of casual play. Abysmally low drop rates on Atma, obscene amounts of mythology tomes for the Animus books coupled with the ridiculously long FATE timers back then, grinding light, getting seventy-five alexandrite and (decent) materia melded (successfully)... the list goes on.
30-80 hour grind for a 210-215 weapon. If it's more 30+ hours and i200-i205 there's no way in Hell I'm going to waste my time with it, no one would would you can just upgrade the Esoterics. Any longer than a 80 hour grind and I'm not going to bother either way, I'll get the glamour when it's nerfed. I think that seems fair, at 990 Esoterics it would take just slightly more than 13 DREX runs, an average of 30 minutes per run would put that at 6.5 hours. There's no way a weapon that easily obtainable should be on par with a relic, they take absolutely no effort or time.
