30-80 hour grind for a 210-215 weapon. If it's more 30+ hours and i200-i205 there's no way in Hell I'm going to waste my time with it, no one would would you can just upgrade the Esoterics. Any longer than a 80 hour grind and I'm not going to bother either way, I'll get the glamour when it's nerfed. I think that seems fair, at 990 Esoterics it would take just slightly more than 13 DREX runs, an average of 30 minutes per run would put that at 6.5 hours. There's no way a weapon that easily obtainable should be on par with a relic, they take absolutely no effort or time.

No, the precursor was some (crafted?) random weapon which you had to slot materia into, you had to spend tomes for upgrade items, not a precursor.

To be correct, Gerolt used the weapon with materias in it as craft material for the unfinished relic weapon.

The Zodiac step took me about 90 hours including queue times, that a little over 3 weeks of playing 4 hours a day unless your idea of casual play is 6+ hours...

What he mean is maybe that it was fast done for a lucky casual player ^^

I'm sure someone said that it wasn't going to be EX hard to get the relic and I can understand that but if you go back to the initial stage Ifrit, Garuda and Titan HARD with i60-i70 gear (300 myth cap per week meant you might have 1 or 2 pieces of i90 if you wait a few weeks) was NOT easy. It was evidenced by the fact that there was many titan hard runs being sold by FC's that there was enough demand for people to want to be carried on it. Also I believe from most responses over time that it was the most favoured part of the relic quest as it was the least grind and had the most objective approach to the upgrade. I would not be surprised to see something similar in future.

They could easily start the relic with the i210 esoteric weapon since all it would require is a player to spend ESO getting the 200 antiquated piece and then have them run the new 24 man raid for an upgrade piece. The major issue with this is you can't really push the weapon past i210 as relics don't ever outshine final raid weapons until the last patch before the next raid tier. What this means is you would have a 210 piece that would just change into another 210 piece which would be absolutely pointless.

I don't know about that, people have been wanting a little horizontal progression for a while now. Maybe it steps sideways into stat reallocation? I mean, the esoterics weapons have the exact same stat spread as the original Relics so who's to say the esoteric weapons aren't the Mythic's "Relic" and "Zenith" stages with the upcoming quest serving as the "Atma" stage. We really don't know so saying anything would be pointless is... pointless.

If you don't have a ilevel 200 weapon. Eso will be a nice stepping stone as you grind your way threw the requirements needed to get Relic to 200+

Either way, the 200 Eso weapon will help you as you try to obtain the relic.

I have too many roles to gear. I'll wait on the clarity of an announcement for the new relic before deciding if I want an eso weapon or not for my main. It's not like I struggle with duties and I don't do Savage. I suspect they might allow a higher eso cap soon enough.

Eso cap will not change before 3.2
But in 3.1 it will be faster to reach the cap (increased tome rewards in odd numbered patches, if they do it like during 2.x).
