The OP is clearly new to MMOs too. You think this is a recent thing?

This is why I have yet to tank or even DPS. I want to, but Duty Finder is brutal to new players. I made it through as a WHM because I have healed in an MMO before and it is my preferred job. I've never tanked anywhere and would like to here, but learning all the little ins and outs of positioning specifics and which targets in each and every dungeon when you don't know those things from that perspective - even if you know fights as a healer - is daunting when you stand in the line of fire for all kinds of blame when trying to sort that out. I've played my DKR to 39 and love it, my GLA to 26 (yes, in fates, because take them into dungeons? seriously?! with topics like these?) but I'm very likely never going to actually use them. >.< A bit sad too because I maybe know them a little better than some, having spent most of my time watching tanks as a healer. It's just not worth the grief I expect to get even trying to change jobs at this point.

What's wrong with peoples' English these days?
    "I'm new" means "I'm new".

Personally I don't give a fk if you want to farm the dungeon or ran it like 2000 times for whatever item.
I won't let you make your problems mine. Deal with them yourselves.

That being said, I do watch video guides and look at guides, but making an experience yourself is a different thing altogether.

Stop being so WOWish, people. Unless people make the same stupid mistake over and over again, what's the problem? We're all overgeared for dungeons anyways, I can heal a DRG tanking, or a NIN. Heck, I can tank myself in most cases and I'm the healer.

Unfortunately there are people out there who cast "I am new" as often as protect and so the phrase gets "out of jail card" meaning too.

I wonder how do you deal with speed runs? Every second dungeon I do for the first time ppl aggro the whole room, which is kinda pain to heal without being as you said overgeared, and my only choice is to heal through their "problems" which then become mine problems as well.

I totally agree, but I think what our fellow players are saying is that most of the times, when there is someone new to an instance or duty, they seem to be new at the job too. And I have experienced this quiet a lot myself too, besides the fresh DRK that never tanked before and doesn't understand defensive or damage mitigating cooldowns. Sometimes players who are new to the dungeon look like they suddenly lack knowledge about their job too, which they were supposed to have somehow "mastered" in 50 levels. And I'm referring to the Ironworks/coil dressed players. Those you would suppose they know how to tank/dps/heal. Of course I don't expect a level 20 player in Sastasha to fully play to his potential, but I would if there was a zodiac. Many times I've had a new player in a dungeon with full second coil gear who either suffered from amnesia, bought his character and/or let his 10 year old kid play for him. One thing is not knowing an instance, another is not knowing your job's basics.

People who run around in Coil gear can't be new to anything really, except maybe to the dungeon at hand, if they're just leveling up their first class.

Or maybe "I am new" means:

I have watched videos on the dungeon fights, but haven't actually run through the dungeon yet.
I might pull slightly slower then i want to or will eventually be able to; because
    1) i am not fully raid geared yet so i don't over-gear the place
    2) i am not sure yet which groups of trash can be grouped up for easy aoeing.
I might be also trying to give raid-geared dps and healers a heads up to pay a little more attention to their primary jobs, or they may both end up tanking (DPS not watching threat and healers spending more time in cleric stance)

That being said, i also state i will pull as quickly as i can, and am always open to suggestions. I don't want to be in there any longer than any of you, i have even more runs to do then you.

It's quite sad really when i see some people.

My girlfriend started playing FFXIV 2 months ago. She had NEVER touched a game in her life, let alone an MMO or know anything about it.
Within 2 weeks she was almost always top DPS and had almost all the basic mechanics down. Now she is already at same level as most people I know and is attempting Bismarck ex.
She would ask me prior to running a dungeon what to expect, what the important tactics were etc. Now she looks up everything herself.

This is a very new player friendly game. Listening to the tips of veterans and communicating with your party members makes things so much easier and smoother.
It doesn't matter if you are new, simply LISTEN to the people whom have ran something 100s of times before.

If someone says they're new, I never have a problem explaining tactics and fights. If you do your best, you won't hear me complain.
If you use "I'm new" to be a complete idiot, don't listen and are just plain terribad? Yea that's where i draw the line. (I always give new players some extra leeway, we all were new once)

That is sad. Tanking is fun. You shouldn't let a few bad apples deter you from playing the jobs you want to play. I personally believe that these types of topics you see in the forums are the exceptions and not the norm. If anything, you are more likely to meet indifference from PUGs. Its just that the PUGs that annoy you are often the most memorable.

I feel that a healing job is *WAY* more complicated and stressful than Tank or DPS jobs. Specially if you are dealing with players that don't even bother to use their cool downs or dodge aoe. If you can deal with that, and you probably have, then any tank or dps job should come easy to you.
